This kit is a great portable fishing solution. No your not going deep see fishing but for basic pond & lakes it's great. Keep it in the car for those "I wonder if there's fish in there moments". The reals are smooth and cast well, the telescoping rods seem sturdy enough for their intended purposes. WOW – DOUBLE- Complete Kit – everything necessary and very good quality – BARGAIN PRICE Sized for smaller fish only, you know, the more delicious “pan fish”. Wow, great DOUBLE SET, for two people, of two rods two pre-spooled reels and enough lures for the two setups AND everything fits inside a nice big bag. The pre-spooled reel is super smooth winding. The compact telescoping expandable rod feels very good casting and retrieving. In a compact fishing rod, I actually prefer the stacked inside each other telescoping rods because I have had some of those for years with no problems. I would have made a different choice of what lures to include so I will just change out some lures for my favorites as I expect you all will do the same. However, you do not need to customize because you can just take this to your favorite fishing spot, along with your favorite fishing buddy, and start fishing for spur of the moment grab every opportunity you can to fish. ... show more

This fishing rod and reel combo is awesome! It comes with everything you need to start fishing right away, and it's really affordable. The rods are collapsible and easy to transport, and the reels are smooth and easy to use. I've used it to catch fish in both saltwater and freshwater, and I've had no problems with it. The only thing I didn't like is that the line feels a little cheap, but it was fine for the fish I was catching. Overall, I highly recommend this fishing rod and reel combo. This is a decent quality combo set with all the functions of good spinning reels. They're smooth and virtually silent. Although we haven't tried all the lures that are included, there are some great options including one that is very similar to one my husband has used and caught some great fish with. We don't understand why these are advertised as ambidextrous though, as they are standard left-hand crank. The instructions should be very helpful for beginners, as they explain how to install the reel, spool the line, and attach it to the reels. Until now, we never seem to have our fishing gear with us when we actually have the opportunity to use it, however, because this set is compact, lightweight, and even comes in a carrying case, it's the perfect thing for keeping in our car, camper, or backpack to have with us whenever we need it. This is the perfect fishing it to keep in our camper or under the back seat of my truck for those times you want to do some casual fishing, where you don't want to haul your more dedicated fishing gear. This kit has everything you need to hit the water for most freshwater species that you can catch from shore or even wading. Not sure how it you do trolling for bigger fish from a boat, but it comes with size 3000 reels and the poles are light-medium to medium power at best, so it could wrestle in a nice fish. That said, these reels only have 2+1 bearings so not the smoothest reels. Definitely beginner level reels, but enough to have fun on the water, whether bluegill, bass, crappie or even walleye. If you are going on a fishing trip of a lifetime, this is not your kit. If you are looking to have something along without taking up a ton of space, or just starting out, this might be for you. ... show more

    • Great at First but Started Having Issues

We used these a lot this past weekend on the lake. While they worked just fine for the first fifty or so casts, I noticed more and more line getting unspooled during casting, eventually to the point of having a nest of unspooled line. I switched to the other unused reel, and it to worked fine for a while but also started having issues. This could just be a line issue after it was stretched a bit, but it got very frustrating to the point where we abandoned using them. I will probably put new line on both reels and try them again, but for now I'm not too keen on these. ... show more
