I purchased this nativity set to donate to our church nursery. I am very pleased with everything as I expected from FPLP with their history of excellent quality. However, I was extremely disappointed that there is/are no shepherd/shepherds. In teaching the story to children especially, it is important to recognize that the shepherds were the first to arrive at the manger. The fact that a “replacement” shepherd is available, makes me wonder if FP knows a shepherd should be in original set but is missing. The other factor is that the one little shepherd figure costs $17.95, more than 1/3 the cost of the entire original set!!! I was planning to purchase a second set for my 1 year old granddaughter for Christmas, but will shop other brands that include shepherds in the set.

It is well packaged. Very nice set, the color is vivid. My daughter loves it. It’s just sometimes hard to press for light to come up, my daughter needs to press 2-3 times.

This set is well made, I am so glad to have a nativity that my kids can play with, and I don't have to worry about gluing figurines back together. It comes with a lot of pieces, the donkey with the cart is interesting - kids could pretend to make Joesph and Mary travel. However, I feel bad that there aren't any shepherds. The stable has a light, and plays one song, Away in a Manger over and over.

Our grandson loves Little People and I was really excited to find a nativity set that he could play with. He loves the figures and we love that they are age appropriate. These are really solid toy that I expect will last for years. This is a great toy and also a great gift. The packaging is really nice and colorful and would be fun to open. It is a great anytime gift especially leading up to Christmas. If your toddler is as obsessed with little people as my grandson is, this is a must have. Great for play around the holidays. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, had to take off a star for no shepherd. 3 wise men, angel, Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, 5 animals including a sheep but no shepherd? Oddly it seems like only the little people advent calendar has the shepherd included. Overall very happy with the "Fisher-Price Little People Toddler Toy Nativity Set with Music Lights and 18 Pieces for Christmas Play Ages 1+ years".

TLDR: A wonderful nostalgic playset or display/decoration for Christmas. This seems to be a revised version of the older "Fisher-Price Little People Deluxe Christmas Story" from 2019, each including 12 characters, and 5 bits of scenery. The newer counter part appear to be more simple, possibly to lower manufacturing costs. Including less detailed character models and somewhat flat looking shrubs instead of the more detailed palm trees trees from it's predecessor. This set is also a nice upgrade from the much smaller display box version of this set (28.99 at the time of this review) which has no light, music, or the extra characters and accessories this newer version does. Note: if you're like Pam, and you really need a Shepard, this figure is included in "Fisher-Price Little People Nativity Advent Calendar [Amazon Exclusive]", which is a greater value if you don't want to buy the $18 replacement shepard.

This is a great set--comes exactly as pictured! It comes with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus in the manger (not removable), an angel, the 3 wise men, a cow, a camel, 2 donkeys, and 1 sheep. There are also some other scenery pieces (hay, cart, gifts, and wall pieces). The stable is good size and fits the important characters, and it plays music when you push a button on the roof or put the angel on that post. Plastic feels durable and well-made. Honestly such a cute and playable nativity scene for kids.

This review is for the Fisher Price Little People Nativity Set (Model: HMX70), released in 2023. Fisher Price has been doing Nativity Sets for a long time, and they sell big and small sets at different price points. Compared to the previous top-of-the-line Deluxe Christmas Story set, you get the same number of Little People figurines (12) and play pieces (5), and you also still get the stable with a light-up star that plays "Away in the Manger." The main updates to the 2023 set make it more period-accurate, and in my opinion, it's a long-overdue change. For example, the previous set featured a baby Jesus with blonde hair, and in this most recent update, it was changed to a tuft of brown hair. Another change is that the three wise men now feature brown skin tones, and some have facial hair. Since they're supposed to be from Persia, India, and Arabia, I think it's for the best. Overall, I think this is a wonderful playset and I highly recommend it. Notes: 1) I wish it played more songs.
