I've had my Fire HD 8 plus for a couple weeks now. Paid a little extra for the 64 GB and without Special Offers. So far, I'm really liking it. There are a few things that need to be done to make this tablet great. And that's to add the Google Play Store. Too bad it's not included but I can see Amazon's reasoning. Thank goodness it's not too difficult to add the Play Store. Took me about 15 minutes after following the step by step instructions found on the internet. I will admit the Fire OS takes a little getting used to compared to regular Android. And after reading some of the negative reviews about certain problems I think many are just user errors. For me this tablet has been problem free. If I run into any difficulties I just find the answers and solutions on the internet. I highly recommend this tablet if you are willing to put in a little time and brain power to get it set up the way it should have been out of the box.

I got this because my old PIXAL tablet is on it's last legs. and as a book reader & audible it is ok. However, some big gripes on this. 1. you can ONLY get AMAZON antivirus. AVAST, which is the top rated free android antivirus, isn't available because Amazon won't play nice with Google. Seriously? Nor can you get vipre, Norton or any other antivirus i've ever heard of. Their top ranked antivirus they DO offer is from INDIA. (not that they TELL you this, you have to search it out for yourself). 2. as a book reader? two problems. 1. If i want to put a book in a collection, they don't make this very user friendly. I have over 750 books. I'd like to group them the way I want to group them. The automatic system will assume that EVERY book by a given author is part of ONE series. Ain't so dudes. 2. display. My old Pixel has a better display. you'd think that a reader MADE for reading would be better than a tablet that was a "not quite a laptop" generic. but it ain't. If I had to do it over again? I MIGHT get the kindle as i do (see above) a LOT of reading. BUT I probably would look into finding a small lap top that would do more .

I primarily use this tablet for digital books and occasional web browsing. Plenty of adjustments available - back lighting, font size. Display quality is excellent. I purchased the charging stand bundle - really pleased with it!

The battery lasts so long!! Works fast! Love it! It does have an annoying Device Dashboard that keeps opening because I bump it accidentally with my left thumb and there’s no way to turn it off.

The tablet by itself is OK for media consumption not really powerful enough for a lot of workload task. The screen is OK I wish it would’ve been for each day though. The tablet is much more useful if you sideload to Google play store on it and download out from the Google play store because there’s not a lot of apps on the Amazon store.

I like my Kindle Fire tablets. I give them as gifts. However, I do not purchase with "Special Offers" as for a $20 price break you will be bombarded with ads. I also purchase added memory, as much as is offered. Costs more but well worth it. That makes it possible for me to do the most and enjoy movies, adding pictures, Zoom and more. Really makes a difference!
