This is truly good quality stainless steel that doesn't irritate my skin. The quality of construction is really good too! If you are allergic to certain metals and require a hypoallergenic stainless steel, this is what you want. No rash from this one! Good stuff!

I wanted a heavy black chain. This seemed like a good option to get it and it did deliver. Just the chain itself weighs nearly 5oz. The box style flexes easily and feels strong given its weight. The weakest point, ironically, appears to the the lobster clasp. Given it's only holding 5oz, the clasp is adequate but if you lay the necklace out on a table the clasp looks small in comparison to the 8mm chain I got. I knew the other colors in the listing were probably electroplated. I figured this would end up being powder coated or something like that, but in looking at the chain I don't think that's what they did. The chain is marked with 316L which is surgical grade stainless steel. There is a way to electrically deposit black through a chrome process onto stainless, but this looks more substantial. It looks like the black on my stainless steel watch band which holds up quite well. That would put it in the space of PVD coating (vapor based and stronger than either other method). Since the seller doesn't say, it's just my guess. Either way it seems like a good quality finish. ... show more

I like the weight of it, even it is a thin chain. To me it is one that catches one's eyes. I got this to put my wedding ring and my wife Shirley's wedding ring on, to have close to my chest. She pasted in December, together for 53 years. I have gotten compliments. Rings are white gold.
