Love it. Makes excellent smaller snowballs, maybe a baseball size, not a softball size. Great for snowballs if you're wearing mittens, for example, or trying not to get your hands too wet/cold (that's me). My 4 year old can't throw with it and it's still a bit awkward for him to make snowballs. Therefore I make the snowballs and he goes and piles them up, counts them, whatever. One day we went out and he had something like 100 snowballs, he'd piled them everywhere, and I probably threw another 100 (I'd make one for him and he'd go and put it in one of his piles, I'd make another and throw it, then I'd make him another). The first Snow Slinger we have we literally found in the house that we bought, and it was new in the package. We didn't open it until we moved into a different house, many many years later, when my son was 3. Opened it, made snowballs, awesome. Bought a second one just recently (Nov 2016). Style: Snowball Slinger
It's not the best slinger, but it's an outstanding snowball maker. The hinge is clearly designed ti separate if there is too much torque applied. This allows it to break in two without causing permanent damage to the device. It quickly and easily snaps back into place without any damage. Makes great snow balls. If you want to use it to sling, I suggest mass-producing snowballs with the device then picking them up or loading them onto the slinger by hand before launching. It does take a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it you can throw fairly far. The idea is to keep your hands dry/warm, and that it does well. Handle broke before 1st use. Tried using with shorter handles, but it was terrible at actually making snowballs because the 2 sides of snow wouldn't join to form the ball.
