I like to drink my coffee slow… time and time again I was having to put it in the microwave because I just don’t like cold coffee. The Ember cup keeps it hot @145 degrees, actually keeps the temperature wherever I want it for better than an hour or right at it… but usually I’m done with my coffee by then so I don’t know for sure. The inside enamel chipped away almost immediately so I took a green scouring pad and removed all the enamel from the inside so it’s just metal now and that’s actually better because you don’t want to drink enamel chips, the outside looks as good as the day I bought. I am really happy my coffee says hot throughout the morning ritual lol. I left a little enamel at the top for looks… ... show more

This cup was recommended to me by a friend. I was taken aback by the price but put it on my Christmas list anyway. Choosing a color was easy - it was either black or white (more color choices would be nice!). I chose white. When the day arrived, I was still wondering what the fuss was all about. After all, it is just a mug. Then I used it and everything changed... The mug is extremely well insulated despite the thin walls. I never have to worry about burning my fingers when I pick it up. I drink a lot of coffee from my Kuerig single cup brewer so I measure the water with my mug. The thin walls result in a perfect pour. Unlike my old mugs. water does not run down the sides and onto the counter when I fill the machine. I was impressed with the precise temperature control. I have found that 136°F is ideal for me. When I buy coffee at a coffee shop and take it home, I skip the microwave and let the mug warm it to my ideal temperature. Yummy! The mug's light flashes when your beverage is too warm and steadies when the drink is at the ideal temperature. No more burned lips and mouth! The battery lasts for an hour or more when not on the charger but recharges itself while it's on the charger and actively warming your drink. A cup of brewed coffee tastes just as fresh after two hours in the mug as when it was poured and is maintained at that perfect temperature down to the last sip or two. I started raving about this mug to my wife who is an avid tea drinker. I offered to let her use my mug ONCE to see for herself. She didn't see what the fuss was all about. Then she used it and everything changed.. Needless to say, she now has her own mug and we even have an extra because we needed a charger in the kitchen. I received this item as a gift. I drink a lot of coffee, and I do tend to leave my cups lying around long enough for it to get cold and I have to traipse to the microwave to heat it up for 10 seconds. Even after knowing my habits though, I didn't think I would use this product enough. It seemed like a hassle to have to charge a coffee cup, and because of that I didn't use it for some weeks. After some coaxing, I finally pulled it out of the box and it has changed my life! I kind of feel bad, because this is the only coffee cup I now use. I have whole cabinets filled with awesome mugs and that's where they'll stay. The ceramic mug is ridiculously easy to clean. It isn't dishwasher safe, so it needs to be hand washed. Honestly, all I do is rinse it with hot water and place it back on the charger. It's coffee, and, unlike some cups that keep coffee stains and smells (even after heavy washing), this thing resilient. Just make sure you dry it before putting it back on the charger. Water and electricity usually don't mix well. The one thing I will say is that it keeps my coffee hot, and the less liquid is in the cup, it seems like the hotter it gets. So, after I drink most of my coffee, I tend to turn the cup off so I don't burn my mouth. Since I only use this cup, I don't have mugs piling up with leftover coffee in them either. I only say it changed my life, because one morning I realized I had forgotten to put the cup back on it's charger the day before. I was so bummed having to make my coffee in my batman mug (which is my favorite), that it dawned on me how much I preferred using the Ember mug. Long story short, great mug!     • Cool idea but a LOT of flaws

My wife got me the travel mug a few years ago as a gift. I thought is was a stupid idea since it doesn't hold much actual coffee. To make things worse, the battery goes dead pretty quick, so if your goal was saving a cup for later you should just buy a regular insulated cup. I used it anyways because it was cool and gave me an excuse to fiddle with the app. The value of this product is keeping your coffee at the right temperature, and that is something you won't appreciate till you get used to it. My daily fix is a fresh grind press or pour over, and a cup like this is what it deserves. Once I gave up the idea of using it as a travel mug I was happy. So long as it stays in the base most of the time you're good to go. Until of course the charge base breaks >:| The charge base I got with the travel mug died in a little over a year. I was happy enough with the temp thing by then that I decided to get the standard cup and just use the base that came with it. That worked awesome for the next year until it broke too, in exactly the same way. Luckily, my wife (who has the patience to deal with customer service) called and was able to get a replacement for the first one so I'm still in business...For a while. In short: The travel mug is worthless. You'll like the standard cup, but the charge base is probably going to break. If you look at reviews you'll see this is a common failure and if you want to play phone tag with customer support they might give you a new one. Personally I found a YouTube video and the $0.90 part to fix it...assuming I can figure out how to take it apart without breaking it. ... show more
