I have 2 passive edifier P12 bookshelf speakers paired with the T5s. This is a quality powered sub for a very reasonable price. This is a must if you purchase any edifier shelf speakers. Even when the speakers have nice range of bass and treble, the subwoofer adds an important element of depth for lower frequencies. I love music in all of its formats, and this is a great entry level sub that has decent sound quality. The volume is quite loud but I rarely use it what I think may be 50% of its capacity. So, I haven't heard any distortion at all. Great value for the money spent. Finally, one thing I love about it is its size. I started out with just the bookshelf Edifier R1280DBs speakers and was not impressed. However, when I added this subwoofer to the room, those same speakers sound fantastic. This is a small computer room, so take that info into consideration.
