Big power in a small package

I rarely write reviews, but this woofer blew me away. I just hooked it up. My hi fi system is located in a small room within my house. I didn't need a lot of power, but I was skeptical. Fortunately, this little guy is more than enough to handle the job. I'm shocked by how much "oomf" it packs. My walls are shaking and I barely have it turned up! Set up only took a matter of minutes. The controls are very simple and the sound is superb. Tremendous value for the cost.

Great little subwoofer

I’m really happy with this subwoofer. The bass is clean and strong for its size, and it adds a nice punch to my speakers. The compact design is great for putting in a corner, and the wood finish looks very nice. Great value for the money.

Great sound, little nuance.

Interesting little box. The overall sound quality of this sub is quite decent in my opinion, but it's more feast or famine. If you run your input directly into the sub you get massive thundering bass that will fill any living room with ease. The issue is that you have this on like a quarter of the volume knob max. If I run the input into my Edifier R1280DBs and chain the sub off them then you get a very very conservative signal compared to the volume of the desktop speakers which requires the sub and it's filter to be cranked to near max to feel it's presence without having your desktop speakers volume extremely high. So you wind up with a sub that is highly impractical for small rooms in general. With all that being said, the sound quality is quite nice, but it's just not great for listening at lower volumes since there isn't a lot of nuance. A receiver would probably help a lot to tame the sound. I ended up leaving mine running through the Edifier speakers with the sub LPF around 80 Hz and the volume around 60%.

Awesome sub. Using for home stereo and it really blows you away. Very clear and heavy low end sound that makes killer sound for any action movie or music video. Compatible with any receiver with sub out. Hooked up a single rca cable and I was good. two tone dials on the rear lock in preferred sound. Very happy with this product and solid bang for the buck.

Let’s set realistic expectations.

This sub is small. It lacks the volume (space) needed to really produce a solid bass note. If you expect more than the physics will allow, you will be disappointed. This sub can add just enough low end to round out a pair small speakers. I added this sub to a pair of Edifier 1280’s. I use them with the TV and for listening to music. The sub is 70w and the speakers are (apx) 20w a side. The sub is in no way able to match the monitor’s output, but it is fine for the average movie volume. It does it’s job, it is not impressive.

Understand it's purpose and it's fabulous

It's important to understand that this sub is designed to augment Edifier's small speakers, it's not designed to rattle your neighbor's windows. Ideally, you run an RCA patch cable to the sub and then another patch back to your powered speakers. It works much like any small sub/satellite system as found in many dedicated computer speaker systems. However, it will work in some other configurations. In my case, I'm using a pair of old Klipsch R14-Ms - that I scored at a thrift store for 10 bucks - with an SMSL AO300 integrated amp fed thru a USB-C connection from my desktop computer to the SMSL internal DAC. I've run a single RCA patch from the SMSL's sub output to one of the RCA inputs on the sub. This works fine, and sounds WAY better than a system with ten dollar thrift store speakers should ever sound, but I like to feel a warm blanket of bass and the slight thump of a kick drum. This little sub extends the range of my little R-14Ms, changing the near field experience from nice little speakers right in front of me to an immersive sensation of music all around me. It's still pretty transparent. The imaging does not suffer. And it reproduces musical sound, accurate low notes, not just a resonant thump. It rounds out the feeling of sitting at the desktop to feel more like sitting in my listening space with my bigger speakers... you just can't get that feeling with 4 inch woofers. So that's what this is designed for - augmenting small woofers - not rattling floors and walls. I would not recommend using it as an LFE sub, but if that's what you're looking for, post your own review, I'd be interested. Oh - and it's about the size of a medium computer tower. The size is a definite selling point, part of the reason I tried it. It tucks discreetly into a small space.

Big sound in a right space

I love this thing. I recently upgrade my computer sound equipment and paired this with an Ultimea Desktop unit. Clear voices on my calls and this thing can thump when I want to rock out. You can adjust gain and frequency independently to your taste. Great value even when not on sale.
