We've been systematically replacing alarm clocks and echo dots with these show 5's. There a lot of people that dislike the small screen and slow processor but for us they work great for what we are using them for. The only challenge that we have is that asking Alexa to play K-LOVE Christian Radio on iheart radio as an alarm clock never goes well. You basically have to disable kids mode, set the alarm, then turn kids mode back on. Once you have one alarm set, you can modify it through the Alexa app. I wish Amazon was more tolerant in allowing K-LOVE radio station to be played on kids echos without having to jump through hoops.

For Christmas I decided to deck the halls with balls of Alexa. Pretty much have one in every room of the house. My mom is older and has used Siri since the dawn of time so switching to Alexa has been easy for her. She enjoys the fact she can turn her light and fan off and on in her bedroom and turn my tv off in the morning if it's still on. I love the fact I can listen to music everywhere, use it as an intercom, oh and the sleep sound apps! I can drop in from anywhere to check in or get ahold of my household, listen in on the baby from another room. It's honestly amazing where technology has gone. So happy I made this switch, opens a world of possibilities for future presents!!

This new Echo Show 5 Kids is exactly the same hardware as the regular Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021), but with a greenish Chameleon color. This Kids version comes with 1 year of Kids+ subscription, kid-friendly Alexa responses, and parental controls enabled by default. Parents can configure settings, like what authorized contacts are available for video calls, and setting time limits on video watching. This Show 5 Kids is currently $10 more than the regular Show 5 (2nd Gen, 2021). You get 1 free year of Kids+, so to help you decide if this is worth it for you, here are the current costs of the Kids+ subscription service: Single child (1 Kids+ account): Prime members – $2.99/month , Non Prime members – $4.99/month * (Note, no yearly payment option) * Family (up to 4 Kids+ accounts): Prime members - $6.99/month, Non Prime members - $9.99/month or 1 year prepaid annually – Prime members - $69, Non Prime members - $99 Remember that you will be billed at the monthly rate once your subscription expires in a year! In my opinion, this Show 5 Kids version might be especially worthwhile if you are getting it for younger children. In our experience after about age seven or so, our kids weren't very interested in any of the content in the Kids+ subscription service. The fact that it is only $10 more for this version though, means you might want to get the Show Kids version anyway for older kids, just for the easier and more comprehensive parental controls and cooler color.

I bought this for my 2 year old grandson and it has been the perfect addition to his rom. Great sound quality and love the restrictions to content. He has now also learned to say Alexa! lol

I got one for my four year old and one for my seven year old. So far my seven-year-old has done such cool things with it there’s like math stuff and audio books, knock knock jokes. I think my freshly turned 4 year old has used it to watch Peppa Pig and listen to music for a little bit. So a hit for my seven-year-old and maybe a year premature for my four year old. All in all as she gets older, she’ll understand how to use it more and I’m sure she’ll enjoy it more as time comes in as she’s able to understand a little better.

My 7 year old loves echo show so I thought this would be great for her. It did not disappoint. I love that it is especially set up for a child to use. I don’t have to worry about her accidentally getting on something she shouldn’t be. It has jokes for kids, songs, everything is tailored to them specifically. The skin is also a great, fun feature. It stands out and just has a fun vibe! Easy to set up, responds well to her voice and good sound quality.
