These weren’t quite as I expected. They didn’t look as squat as in the photos. Not as ugly as I feared but a bit old lady-ish. They were much, much lighter in weight than I expected. The leather is thin and like butter. Super comfortable as soon as I put them on. Wish the insole were leather instead of a textile next to my foot and wish the leather uppers weren’t lined in a very synthetic-y textile. Too nylon-y. Ecco’s quality in materials seems to be deteriorating. I haven’t done a long walk yet but I think they’ll be very good. I wouldn’t wear them on wet surfaces though. The sole looks smooth. I replaced the slightly waxy laces which are nice but hard to tie and a little shorter than I prefer. I bought elastic laces with a screw closure on Amazon. They work well to make them slip-on sneakers for casual daily wear. I definitely wouldn’t wear these to play sports. They’re not actually athletic shoes except in form.

Actually bought these as a replacement for a nearly identical pair I've had for years. The workmanship is good enough that I spent the money to have the last pair resoled when I started wearing through the tread. In fact I've done one or two repairs on that other pair (same brand), to keep them going. I still wouldn't need to replace them if I could maybe find a different cobbler? Now this pair appears to be made equally well, but I was disappointed that I couldn't find a closer match to the previous style. This pair is a little bit"granny" for my taste, but I am hoping as the leather molds to my foot (yes I believe it is actually real leather we how well the last pair is still kicking) it will get a little more personality. I think the main style point I am disappointed with is the toe. My other pair had extra detail around the toe that broke it up a little bit. Overall, I'd say by this shoe or a better style of the same brand!

After having no luck finding lace up sneakers near me, I ordered two pairs of Ecco; this pair and the soft 7. I wanted the lower profile, not high cut, or looking like an athletic shoe. I really hate to return these, but for this price, they need to be perfect. The “soft” part of the description obviously refers to the leather, not the sole. They have a very thin, cheap insole that can be removed. I have knee problems, and must have a comfortable shoe. It seems that no type of insert will be enough for me if the bottom of the shoe is hard. I wear a 8 1/2, and the 8-8 1/2 better than 9-91/2. These would probably work well for someone with no foot/ knee problems.

I‘ve been wearing Ecco for around 30 years so was delighted to be able to buy this sneaker for approx $54. Instead of the 6-6.5 =36 Euro I was sent a Euro size 37. The only option offered was having my credit card refunded. When I went to reorder the correct size they were now $84 and I am NOT happy! The deception feels intentional by whatever seller sold them. Sorry Ecco for giving you only 2 stars but this is just wrong.
