I cannot emphasize enough what a great product this has been. My chronic dryness and thyroid condition had defeated EVERYTHING. Whether a drug store brand or fancy procedure or prescription strength or ultra expensive. It didn't matter. All fell before my dry skin. Until this gem. This angel of a product. The transformation has been incredible. My dermatologist and esthetician are beside themselves, and I will move heaven and earth before I go without this. Drama aside, it really is great. I use it at night over a moisturizer and it seals everything in, no matter the weather. A little goes a long way and the packaging ensures there is no outside contamination or germs.     • Not a tricky cap, just squeeze the tube!
An excellent lotion for anyone with a severe dry skin problem. The balm is thicker and leaves a slightly greasy feeling to your skin a little longer than the Skin Recovery Cream. I personally preferred the feel of the latter, but if you want a thicker cream or need one that is preservative free then this Replenishing Balm is the one for you. The Avène Eau Thermale products are amazing and have made an incredible difference for a family member who had such severely dry skin that even bending fingers would cause skin to split and bleed. After trying numerous lotions over the past year, with no improvement, we decided to bite the bullet on spending the money on this expensive product and are so pleased with the result! After only 2 days use, the skin is noticeably softer and less red, and he can bend his fingers fully again without pain or injury. I was apprehensive about the cap after reading other reviews, but there is no problem or trick to it at all...just squeeze your tube of lotion as you normally would and it comes out just fine. You may have to squeeze with slightly more pressure than normal, but it is not difficult by any means. The first time you open it, there is a little catch tab that was there to secure the lid tightly, but after opening just pop the little tab off. The cap still closes properly without it. The cap is simply designed to keep anything from being able to be sucked back into the tube as this is a preservative free lotion and needs to remain free from contamination. It is also worth noting, that as such it does have an expiration date for use..I bought mine in Feb 2017, it expires in June 2019 (was bottled June 2016). I mention this to anyone who has thoughts of stocking up on multiple tubes instead of purchasing as you go. ... show more

So, I've had really bad rashes around my eyes and cheeks for a few years. The doctors can't tell me what it is but just used to prescribe me steroid cream which thinned my skin and gave me eye wrinkles. I read about this in a post on Pinterest and ordered it immediately as I had a recurring rash on my face for 3 weeks that kept coming back. Yes it's $32 but I was DESPERATE. Everything else I tried burned my face, even products with the eczema association seal! I was so excited when this came in the mail. I was tiding myself over with Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream and yes, it hydrated my dry face but it stung on contact a bit, and also made my skin tight and began to peel, not painfully but still gross. So I finally got a chance to put this xeracalm product on my face last night. I put about a quarter size amount at first, then two extra pea sized amounts under my eyes. Unfortunately through the night my face soaked it all up (my skin is EXTREMELY DRY and it's winter now) but as soon as I woke up and look in the mirror my redness was 90% gone. My face was a little tight but not uncomfortably, and definitely no peeling. It also does not burn on contact which is so great for me. It's called a balm but it's really more like a heavy thick cream. The top is interesting as you just squeeze it and it pops out and dispenses product to not contaminate it. If you have a problem with the dispenser you have to be an idiot, I just have to be honest lol. It's not rocket science. It serves a very important purpose. Also, I was surprised at the size. $32 seemed pricey but for the amount of product I got it is totally appropriate. I only see myself using this for when my skin gets REALLY DRY and not for regular use though. And a little goes a long way. I'm hoping to see my face go back to normal in a few days. We searched online for my daughter’s facial eczema relief, as it was getting very bad. After using this for 1 day her face and neck cleared! After using it for a while, she doesn’t use it every day bc it can make certain areas sensitive. The bottle is huge so it is worth the price!     • Overpriced, but it does the job for dry chapped, red skin.
Works nicely. As I get closer to 30 I’ve found my skin is drying out, becoming scaly itchy and basically extremely chapped and dry, and sometimes even cracked and painful, it’s terrible. This lotion really helps, you do have to put it on 2-3 times a day and after you wash your hands, It’s very inconvenient for me who’s never really been big on lotions. Honestly the aquaphor I was using before worked just the same, little more greasy but other than that I had to put it on 2-3times a day and whenever I washed my hands just like this lotion to get pretty much the same result. So for me it’s a bit overpriced, if I had the money I’d probably buy it again because it’s a pretty bottle and doesn’t leave my hands greasy feeling. But if your on a budget it’s not worth it, other drug store brands work just as well for a lower price. ... show more
