I liked these straps for three reasons: 1) The clasp is coated; 2) The teflon pad under the clasp to protect the board from scratching; 3) The strap loop to hold the excess strapping neatly. I will say that the teeth of the clasp are sharp so do not drag the strapping through them or it will tear into the material. The upside is that the teeth will always make sure the clasp is tight. I have driven at 70 mph with my SUP on the roof and it doesn't move. ... show more

Watch the video in the description for how to use them and you’ll be amazed at how easy and great these are. High quality. The buckles are metal but sit on a rubber or silicone cushion so it doesn’t scratch your board or car. Love the colors. The strap also has a built in elastic band to keep them wrapped up when not in use. Definitely get these and stop wasting time looking at other options!! :) ... show more

I purchased these because the plastic tabs are designed to prevent the metal from scratching the paint on your vehicle. They work well in that regard; however, the webbing is surprisingly subpar. The manufacturer could easily rectify this with nominal cost given the price point. I have four other sets of tie down straps and these have by far the lowest tensile strength webbing. ... show more

I have used two up to three different sets of competitor straps for my surfboard needs. They were absolute garbage, and would get the frayed. These have sealed sharp angle ends that make that issue next to impossible to happen. They also don't make as much sound when on my roof as well. Update to my original comments below: Used the straps for the first time yesterday and, as noted in my initial observation, the thin material twists and bunches far too easily. It's just not a sturdy material. I'll be keeping these as backup straps but they won't be my every day strap option. We load/unload boards 5 or 6 times a week. Just not the quality of strap I'm going to be able to count on. The cam buckle and the plastic protector are great! Look good and should stand up over time. I also like the organizer loop for storing the straps when not in use. My biggest disappointment is with the strap material itself. Very very thin and flimsy. Width of the strap material is normal but it's just not very thick or sturdy. In a salt water or ocean air environment, I just don't see these things lasting very long. Also, with a thinner strap material, it will have a greater tendency to bunch up instead of staying flat. If you carry boards on your roof in a warm weather environment, that lends to a greater chance for the strap to dig in or ding/dent the rails of your board (when the board heats up, the rails and glass soften and are prone to pressure dings). I'm only planning to carry my board inside it's board bag with these straps. Hopefully, they upgrade the strap material for future production. Overall, they are good straps...but they could be great with improvements to the strap material! ... show more
