  • The Next Evolution in Vacuuming: Why Your Place Will NEVER Be Cleaner!
The media could not be loaded. PERSONAL FEEDBACK: I absolutely LOVE this vacuum! Literally spent years wanting a portable Dyson, though could never justify the purchase considering I already owned a corded Dyson. What I discovered, however, is that there’s far less overlap than I thought. Sure, they’re obviously both vacuums, and owning 2 will always be technically unnecessary. BUT, given the option to only own ONE, I’d choose the battery-powered V7 (or any V) over a heavy, corded vacuum! Read below to understand why... HIGHLIGHTS: • very powerful suction (approx 7 min) • 100 AW (air watts) on MAX (corded Dyson DC24 has 115 AW) • adequate suction on NORMAL (approx. 24 min) • incredibly convenient (portable & light) • capable of every vacuuming need (under 7 min and/or roughly 800 sq ft) ADDITIONAL DETAILS & FEEDBACK DESIGN & ACCESSORIES: (what’s included) • Dyson V7 • extension stick • motorized rolling head (works on carpet + wood + linoleum) • crevice tool • brush tool (retractable bristles) • mounting dock ...bottom line, Dyson products are simply better engineered and better built. Very handy, being able to use the extension with EVERY tool OR plug every tool straight into the vacuum, no extension. I plug the rolling head (no extension) straight in to vacuum my felt headboard, furniture, or hard-to-reach spots). Extension + crevice tool is great for spider webs, and no extension is how I suck up spiders! Dock station installs in 10 minutes (which can hold 2 devices, 3 if you mount high enough for the extension + rolling head to clear the floor). PLUS... there’s all kinds of helpful accessories available online. Already purchased a hardwood floor extension AND a curved, brush device for ceiling fans... ingenious! BATTERY LIFE & POWER MODES: HIGH ...roughly 7 MINUTES of suction @ 100AW (AirWatts — think horsepower for vacuums). For reference, my corded Dyson DC24 has just 15% more suction @ 115AW. I’ve actually run side-by-side comparisons vacuuming half the carpet with each, V7 and DC24. I then dumped the contents on the kitchen floor to compare how much each picked up. SAME. I also ran another test a week later, vacuuming first with the V7, then immediately re-vacuuming the same area with my corded-DC24, just to see how much the V7 wasn’t picking up. The canister of the DC24 was empty. In other words, this battery-powered, lightweight Dyson is capable of matching the performance of a 12 lb corded vacuum. Impressive! LOW ...roughly 24 MIN of suction. There’s no published data on the AW on LOW, but based on simple feel, I’d guess it’s about HALF THE SUCTION POWER. While my OCD prefers using HIGH, I’ve found LOW completely adequate when using the crevice tool and when combined with the rolling brush on carpet (which obviously helps gather). LOW mode IS effective at sucking surface-level debris and crumbs and such, it’s less effective at sucking all that powder-like dirt and dust resting beneath the surface of your carpet. COST & VALUE: ...if you’re reading this review, I suspect you’re legitimately considering a V7 (or V6, V8, V9), though likely asking: “IS IT WORTH IT?” VS less-expensive options? ...yes, WORTH IT. Suction power. Battery quality and life. HEPA filter. Docking station. Tools. These things certainly help justify the added cost. Personally, the fact I’ll own and use this vacuum BI-WEEKLY for the next 8-10 YEARS + the fact it’ll actually hold up that long (have owned my other Dyson DC24 for 13 yrs) helps justify the cost. Dyson’s are pricey, sure, but spread over a decade of constant use, $150 is well worth the satisfaction of both knowing and using the industry standard. VS corded vacuum? ... the fact it “only” lasts 7 minutes, gave me MUCH pause for concern. In fact, this was the central hangup I had with the V7 — as I suspect is the same as most others. However... A) you can actually cover surprisingly more ground than you might suspect. If I hustle I can complete... • kitchen (9’x13’) • family room (14’x20’ wood & rug) • bedroom (12’x 12’ wood & carpet) • office (12’x11’ wood) B) but the thing is, this vacuum literally CHANGES HOW YOU VACUUM!! ... removing vacuum from the closet, unraveling cord, plugging in, and unpacking compressed vacuum was enough of an ordeal for it to cause me to only do it ONCE A WEEK and ALL AT ONCE, going from room to room, plugging and unplugging as I went. The V7 is so light, so portable, and so easy, you find yourself vacuuming 2... 3... even 4 times a week (if you suffer from mild OCD as some of us do). But rather than vacuuming the whole house, you spot-vacuum... you vacuum the moment those hardwood-floor “crumblies” start to stick to the bottom of your barefoot... the moment you notice crumbs on the rug... when you spot that spider boldly cruising across your ceiling... after spontaneously cutting your own hair in the bathroom... et. al. The truth is, I discovered 7 MIN IS MORE THAN ENOUGH! In fact, after owning this V7 for 8 months now, I’ve exhausted the battery just 3 TIMES. Because it’s so easy to simply grab the vacuum — ready to suck the second you pull it from it’s dock — you no longer procrastinate so that you ever end up needing to vacuum longer than 7... or even 3 minutes! Bc while I thought I’d use my corded Dyson, supplementing the V7 when the battery died or the job called for that extra “oomph”, that’s yet to happen! ... show more

  • Great stick vacuum—don’t listen to the bad reviews!
First, I want to be clear that I am almost exclusively using this vacuum on hard floors and very low-pile area rugs. While i do not use it on regular carpet, i do have two cats—one long hair— so i am regularly sucking up a lot of litter, food, and cat hair. I have a 1200 sq ft apartment that is all hardwood floors. I have now owned this vacuum for a few weeks and as is generally the case with Dyson, it doesn’t disappoint. I know a lot of people complain about the battery life but I have yet to kill the battery in one session. And generally, I vacuum my whole apartment every time including a few area rugs and often the upholstry. Suction is good on standard—i haven’t had to use the max suction. Pros: * light weight, easy to maneuver (trigger must be pressed for it to work but it pushes in super easy—almost too easy) * good suction * sufficient battery life to sweep entire apartment *not overly noisy Cons: * Doesn’t stand on its own * soft roller is a separate purchase (would be nice if Dyson would bundle them together as a standard option) I’m not really sure how all the top reviews for this vacuum are so low. I kind of feel like Amazon’s algorithm is trying to convince people NOT to by Dyson since competitor stick vacuums have a lower overall rating but the “top” reviews are more positive than these. I almost went for another brand until i researched further and noticed that Dyson overall was still significantly more positives. Helps that I have a regular Dyson DC14 Animal that is over 15 years old and still going strong. ... show more

  • Excellent vacuum
We bought this recently for my parents after owning a V6 for 10 years ourselves. We absolutely love it. We have 7 pets and live on a dirt road and are constantly vacuuming. The suction power is great IF THE UNIT IS KEPT CLEAN (see below) I'm not sure what is happening that people are only having theirs run for a very short period but ours runs for 30 mins on low and about 15 on high. I got my parents going to clean the car for about 25 on high. A few things to take note of: Rinse your filter WEEKLY. A dirty filter will impact both run time and efficacy. If anyone in your house has long hair, remove hair that twists around the head weekly as well. Same as above. Clean the whole thing out every 6 months or so- that means taking it apart (see online videos) washing the parts that need it, and wiping down or even using a pipe cleaner on the rest. Its worth it. Replace your battery when your run time starts to go down. We replace ours about once every 2 years using it about 4 days a week. Troubleshooting: If it starts pulsing on and off, try the above steps in order. It probably means something isn't clean. DO NOT Use on drywall. Trust me on this. take care of your Dyson cordless and it will take care of you ... show more

  • Good product but needs some tweeking.
I like the stick vacuum. It cleans well and light weight. It is easy to maneuver also. However, there are some design issues. First and foremost, it does not stand alone. You have to prop it up when you need to stop and move something while you are cleaning. You have to be sure it is sitting on a rug or something where it won't be able to roll. Otherwise it will roll and fall. Once mine rolled, fell and the dirt container came open and spill the dirt back on the floor. Secondly, be very careful emptying the dirt. I caught my fingers in the sliding mechanism and it really hurt. Also, since you can't stand it up, the holder for it has to be mounted on a wall which limits where you can store it for charging. The trigger for making it run is placed in the handle and has to be pressed continuously and is in the way when you pick it up to just carry it from one place to another. You would think that all the engineering they say goes into their product they would have thought through these simple user issues. ... show more
