  • Brought back fun memories
Color: Blue/Green
Arrived fast and still had the same pro quality that set these apart when I was younger. Sadly a grandkid tossed in pool so will be buying another to hide for me 🙂

  • Just like I remember 30 years ago
Color: Blue/Green
30 years ago I don't think they had a bearing but a big improvement. Easy for beginners.

  • Great for Cub Scout Yoyo preview adventure
Color: Red/Orange
I used a large quantity of these with some Webelo Scouts (4th grade) to complete the yoyo preview adventure. I "played" with yoyos growing up meaning I sent them down and they never came back up but with this yoyo, I was able to teach myself the 3 tricks they wanted for the adventure before passing the knowledge onto the Scouts - Gravity Pull, Sleeper, Breakaway. The string is not super long on these - I'm 5'2" and even though I needed to shorted it about 1" for my height, I didn't have enough to do so. However, many of the Scouts were short enough we were able to learn and demonstrate the "finding the proper length" requirement. ... show more

  • Pretty simple and fun
I met a kid on the street with one of these and had some fun so I figured, at the price point, why not give it a try. The yoyo itself is nothing special. But I knew that going in. I was looking for a fun plastic, that was responsive. The narrow bearing works well for what it is (I actually wound up putting it on a offstring yoyo that had a pretty horrible bearing in it and it brought that throw back to life). The yoyo is pretty smooth on the string and for simple tricks (rolls, brain twister, picture tricks etc...) works alright. After a couple layers of string, it dies quickly or tries to bind back. It has a starburst response which is unpredictable and pretty terrible, but I knew that going in too. Overall, if you are brand new, or maybe a kid looking for a step up from a classic imperial or butterfly, it is not a bad way to go. I also have a yoyo factory whip which is maybe a little better (due to response) but also somewhat less stable. I'd definitely buy this throw for someone else who was just trying to get going. A next step from this if you want to stay plastic, or stay with Duncan, would be the flipside. That was my first step up from fixed axle and it took me a long way. It too has short comings but it has a decent response and helped me take the step from responsive to non responsive. ... show more

  • Above retail on Amazon
Color: Blue/Green
This is actually a great responsive yoyo for starting out or just for fun. The string gap is just wide enough to do some basic string tricks. And the butterfly shape makes them easy enough as well. The bearing is large and provides a good amount of sleep time and so far seems to last. The response system works well enough that you can easily do looping tricks. So it's a good all around yoyo that can do a lot. It's also surprisingly durable. My oldest has put his through the ringer and it's still perfectly functional despite multiple dents and a hairline crack. Plenty of other yoyos would have broken completely but the affordable little Duncan keeps on spinning. For the suggested MSRP they would be impossible to beat. Unfortunately Amazon is currently selling them for a bit more than that. Even then they are a good value for what you get. ... show more

  • Good Yo-Yo for $5. Solid Yo-Yo for those starting to learn how to Yo-Yo
Color: Colors May Vary
I was a kid back in the 90s and had an Original Butterfly back then. I thought it was the best Yo-Yo I owned at the time. I had a lot of crappy Duncan Yo-Yos as a kid until I got the Original Butterfly. This version of the Butterfly, the Butterfly XT, is the 3rd version of the Butterfly that Duncan has made. They had a 2016 version that is similar to this new 2019 Butterfly XT. Both the 2016 and 2019 versions look similar in terms of body design, but they have different cap art. I enjoyed playing with the new 2019 Butterfly XT. It is able to do the basic tricks I was able to do as a kid, which were: 1.Sleep the Yo-Yo 2. Walk the Dog 3. Rock the Cradle 4. Around the World In terms of what YouTubers can do this Yo-Yo can also do advanced tricks. It's not a competition Yo-Yo, or a Yo-Yo to do really crazy stuff on, but it will get the job done on many tricks. From beginner tricks to advanced ones, and it only costs $5, which is insane. If you want something more advanced the Duncan Hornet is $12.99, so there are other higher-end options out there, but if you're looking for a solid cheap Yo-Yo the Butterfly XT should be able to hold you over for hours on end. ... show more
