Overall, this seems like a good product, and I got it on a Lightning Deal, so it was inexpensive. Very little risk involved. The areas which prevent this from being a 5-star item are: 1) I have a brick house, so the standard wood screws which were included for mounting won't work, and I'm not sure how long the 3M tape will stick to the bricks. I may have to go get some masonry screws. It's currently working fine, but we'll see. This may not wind up being an issue. 2) The receiver must be plugged in (no battery option), and it does not have a cord, the plug is on the back of the receiver. You will need to make sure you have an available plug where you want it to be located. While the sound is plenty loud enough to hear from just about anywhere in my house, the plug location somewhat affects the usability of the visual LED option. My son is Deaf, so the light was a feature I appreciated when purchasing. Having to find an available plug that is located where I can both HEAR the sound and SEE the flashing LED was a bit of a challenge. Also, the size of the plug itself makes it quite difficult to plug anything else into the outlet. 3) There are 36 options for chimes. This sounds like a fun feature, but pushing the button to step through 36 chimes to find the one you want takes quite a while. And most of them are a little bit ridiculous honestly. Ultimately, this is a personal preference issue, but I think 5 or 6 fairly normal chimes would be sufficient. 4) It is plastic and relatively cheap-looking (both the door transmitter and the receiver). I don't have concerns about its durability, just that it doesn't look "classy" or high-quality. If you have a nice house this isn't likely to be the doorbell you will install. If you are in a rental, or aren't overly concerned with your image, this will work just fine for you. Overall, it seems like a very good product and I feel like it was worth what I paid for it.     • Could be used as a car alarm!
It works great. I didn’t want to install an alarm in my older car but there was an individual breaking in cars around the neighborhood including mine, so after installing this sensor inside my car I caught him red handed. Receiver in my room and sensor inside car it woke me up at 4 in the morning to chase him away. It’s been over a year and has not happened again. ... show more

    • Easy, Simple Solution to My Doorbell Problem

I can't hear the doorbell that came wired in the house since the bell is up in the front hall by the bedrooms and my living space is in the back of the house. This has caused some issues. This product, the 1byone Easy Chime, looked like it would solve the problem and be easy to install. I like the flashing light which, I thought, might alert me if I am sleeping and don't hear the chime. It turns out that hearing it is NOT a problem. Nice and loud. I just wish that the light was a little bigger. The setup was pretty easy with the exception that the instructions don't tell you that in order to set the ringtone that you choose, you MUST push the "pairing" button at the same time as the selected melody. I was a little frustrated when I went go through all of the melodies to find the one that I wanted and then it would change back to the standard door chime. I had to go on Amazon and look at the questions in order to find the solution. Once that headache was taken care of, the thing works like a charm. The sound ranges from soft to really loud but the loudest setting is a little distorted sounding. Some melodies are nice and others are a little brassy. Some are shorter than others so you can choose a song that pretty much fits your needs. I like the three modes...flash, flash/ring, and ring only. The only downside that I see so far is, like other reviewers have stated, the device takes up both plugs on the wall outlet. I really like that I can expand to add more chime devices and more doorbell buttons. What would really be neat is if I could add a driveway sensor to the system. A word about the doorbell button...I placed mine above the existing doorbell button. This has caused everyone to ask "What is that thing?" while pointing at the 1byone push button. I got out my label maker and posted "doorbell" on the button. No questions asked now. This was a perfect solution for my problem and it was really inexpensive. I can think of all kinds of situations that it could be handy...in the garage or out in a shed. Working in the yard (if placed in an outdoor outlet temporarily).     • It can get the job done.
Our house was built in the 1970s, our doorbell no longer works, and we cannot find the problem or a way to fix it. My solution was to purchase this doorbell. The button sticks to your outside wall with double-stick tape. I would have preferred something that I could screw into the wall. Oddly, the manual comes with instructions on how to screw the receiver to an sinde wall. We have found that is not necessary, just plug it into an outlet and leave it be. Set up was not easy for me, the receiver needs to be plugged into a power source and the four buttons on the side are not very large. However, I got through it. There are a lot of tunes on it to choose from: be aware that almost half of them are Christmas carols. Jingle Bells just doesn't work for me as a door chime, particularly in the summer. Other tunes that did not work for me included Moon River, the Yellow Rose of Texas (and I live in Texas!), and the Star Spangled Banner. Eventually, I got through them all and found a basic ding-dong sound that is just what I wanted. If you have a loud household, I don't think you will have a problem with this device. The loudest setting is VERY loud. We're quiet, no kids, so I had to lower it a lot for our needs. When all is said and done, I have a functioning door bell at my door, I like the sound it makes when you press the door bell button, and, most importantly, it works.
