Description

This rider backrest is designed for BMW K1200LT / K1200 LT models from 1999 and newer. The assembly includes a steel support frame, a non-studded backrest pad, and hardware for installation. The backrest features an adjustable height setting and a forward-folding angle, allowing easier access for the rider when getting on or off the motorcycle. The support frame is finished in black and is shaped to mount to the existing factory mounting points on the motorcycle. The padded backrest insert provides additional support during riding. Package includes the backrest assembly, support frame, and mounting hardware.

you do not have to modify the original seat (cutting) it's fit would make a german engineer smile, as in 0 tolerance for missalignment or error. I do not like how tight it fits over the passanger seat, I added sticky foam insulation tape to delay wearing a hole. overall.. it will depend on your size and ride if you like it. I will test it on a longer ride soon, but for general daily riding it is a no go for me. The positioning is clunky at best and in order for their "swing out of way" feature you can not tighten it to just stay where tou want it. most likely returning it. **ended up returning it. it was only 'ok' for me on a longer ride, proves more annoying and in the way, than it's worth. 6'1" 200lb as with typical BMW "if they meant for it to have an aditional feature, they would have engineered and sold it with that feature." ... show more

It's well-built and looks great. My only reservation is that the mount tabs were squared off in the wrong direction, and I had to cut 1/4 inch off to remove interference in order to allow mounting bolts to line up. That meant a half-hour installation instead of the 3 minute job ot could have been.

So i had to do the same as everyone else and cut in my plastic mount... a pain in the ass you would think they would have designed to work with what was already there. but the other issue I have it is basically a square 3-inch by a 1/2-inch bar that holds the backrest in place. it is super sloppy and you can lift the back off the bar and pull it out. there is NOTHING locking it at the top and bottom. if someone wanted to take my back rest for themselves the rest would be off without any effort. I do not understand why there is nothing that connects the bar to top or bottom elements of the seat ... show more

I had to cut some plastic out of the way near the mounting bolts. It’s a solid product, but it seems like a simple redesign at the mounting holes and this wouldn’t have been necessary. Currently enjoying the ride. Only and it knelt took 20 mins even with the modification.
