The 1490 is a classic Dr. Martens punk silhouette with higher laces and more attitude. It features all the distinctive Doc details: grooved sides, yellow stitching and heel-loop. Built to last, this unisex boot is forged using one of the finest methods of construction: utilizing a Goodyear welt and heat- sealing it to the sole. The 1490 is made with highly durable leather and sits on an AirWair sole, which is oil and fat resistant with good abrasion and slip resistance. Use Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam to protect the leather and keep your boots clean, soft and supple.

Ordered a size up as was recommended and they fit great (if I wear two thick pairs of socks). Breaking them in was really rough but that’s the price you pay for a good pair of quality. These are my first pair of docs and I’m in love!

    • Stylish But Wear Out

I wore these for over 2 years almost every day for my customer service job. They’re fun to wear and stylish, but the zippers broke after about 5 months, the soles cracked and needed reglueing after about a year, and the hard leather began to get holes where it creased the most after less than 8 months. I would pay more for Jadons to last longer. For reference, I’m a man with a U.S. shoe size of about 9, and the Jadon size 9 in men’s are too tight. I ordered the black, but got the black smooth. That may be all that is available. I love them. I do plan to add insoles, because their insoles are not as comfy as I would like. But overall, I am very happy with them. They seem like they run a little large.

    • Look great, wont last as an everyday boot

Durability is pretty subpar, and personally unacceptable, given the price. Had my Docs for a little over a year now and a hole has formed in one of the creases already. :/ They look great, and if you are only wearing them here and there you shouldn't have too much issue. Even general everyday wear was too much for them though, and I didnt even wear them literally everyday, probably every other to every third. This was not particularly hard use either. I walk a lot, so they got some miles, but they never saw conditions worse than snow and the inside of my retail job. Ive lived in snow and salt country my whole life, so I took plenty of care in the couple of partial winters they saw. The pair of boots I had before this lasted almost a decade with no maintenance and before i got them they had sat it a wooden box with a dozen other pairs since the Vietnamese Resistance War against America. Honestly will probably pull the combat boots back out and see if I can shoe goo them back to their former glory. The wear on them is honestly less substantial. ... show more

My Doc's are beautiful, the beginning is rough, had to brake them in, but by the third day I was ok, good quality they shinned so cool, wish they make 9.5 that will be the perfect fit and yes I will recommend this to a friend

The biggest issue I have with these is the material is super thin. It doesn’t make them unwearable, but they’re way thinner (and I assume less durable) than the ones from the 80’s/90’s. I haven’t had this pair long enough to truly test their durability, but they’re still a pain to break-in so I guess that’s a good sign. In the end I like them but I wish they weren’t made in China, as is the way with most things nowadays ... show more
