Description

The 1460 Pascal with front zip is an 8-eye women's boot with tons of tough doc's attitude, including two ways to fasten — laces and a zipper. Can be worn as lace-up or jungle boot. 8-Eye lace fastening. Removable zip front facing. Medial zip entry. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

  • Good
Size: 8 Color: Black
The boots are nice but when I put them on it feels little pain and little uncomfortable

  • Love these!
Size: 11 Color: Black
I knew before buying these that they were not going to be the best comfort wise and that it takes awhile to break in. I sized up, but I kind of wish I didn’t now because I learned that if you take the soles out it’ll give your feet more space to break them in better. So anyone wanting to purchase these or who did purchase them and showing feet pics of how much the docs cut into their feet, take the soles out and wear with thick socks. I was able to wear them at a concert last night and stand/walk around for 5+ hours and my feet were totally fine. Before I took the soles out, I got the same marks on my feet so I am so glad I googled ways to break in doc martens. Also, keep in mind that docs can take months to break in, depending on how often you wear them. But thick socks will be your best friend when wearing these in the beginning. ... show more

  • These are great!
Size: 8 Color: Black
I had to size up to an 8. The 7s were too small. I like these better than the Wanamas because the side zipper is on the inside. A little snug across the top but hoping that will stretch. They look cool.

  • I am OBSESSED
I wanted these for sooooo long but they were always sold out in my size. They finally had a pair I could get and I have zero regrets. They are stiff at first, and the right one seems a little tighter than the left. I'm just wearing thin socks until I can get them broken in. The red is really dark and pretty subtle which I love. But I imagine they'll lighten up over time, which I'm also okay with. ... show more

  • Stiff zipper, couldn't get them on
Size: 9 Color: Black
While they felt a little small with my foot inside, I thought they could break in.... except that the front zipper was so stiff it wouldn't close without one person pushing the two sides together and another person holding the base of it. Didn't even bother trying both on before returning.

  • Zippers saving time and serving looks
Size: 10 Color: Black
Super high quality Dr. Martens. I took the zipper plates off the top laces and only use the side zipper, which is VERY convenient and stylish. No more bending over and lacing your boots at the door awkwardly trying to leave a gathering. Zip and go. Note: if you have a tall or high arch to your foot, prepare for the agony of where the boot will press. I’m breaking them in and slowly seeing improvements, but as someone with a very curvy high arch to my foot - it is ROUGH. I remember being able to slide Coke cans into them to stretch the top in the late 1990s, but now where the toe box meets the laces they’re so low you can’t even get a can in there. Worth it though, in my opinion, once it breaks in!!! ... show more

  • Almost Perfect
Size: 10 Color: Black
Ugh. I've been drooling over these boots for quite a while. When they were delivered, I was heartbroken with how freaking tight the top is(where the tongue is sewn onto the boot.) I'm waiting for a boot stretcher thing to be delivered... hopefully that helps the issue. I'll update when I either break 'em in or return. **update** I have used boot stretch spray & boot stretchers. That helped immensely. After that, I put them on & heated up that tight spot with my blow dryer. I was finally able to wear them!! Still a tad tight, but after I couple more days they'll be perfect. ... show more

  • Convenient, stylish, comfortable
Size: 8 Color: Black
YAY zipperssss! I bought these boots to travel (many airports/countries) in and I like having something dependable on my feet but typical laced up boots can become a hassle when you’re on a time crunch....I know Bc I have other doc martens I’ve traveled in. But you have the best of both worlds here! So far I love the removable zipper. I broke them in over the weekend in Denver and we did A LOT of walking. I’m a 7.5-8 and I got the 8. I was so worried about the fit but it’s actually perfect !!!! My other docs are a 7 (The Leona vintage style boot) and fit perfect too so I would say that with this design maybe stay true to your size or go up a half size. I’ve worn thin ankle cut socks AND longer thick wool socks and the boots fit well and comfortably with both (that doesn’t usually happen). Yes, they can rough up your shin after many hours of wear but honestly that’s happened to me with every pair of short boots or even cowgirl boots I‘ve owned when I first get them. I think it has a lot to do with leg shape and how you walk. I recommend using the longer socks while breaking them in to avoid any irritation but they didn’t really bother much tbh. I absolutely love them and I get a lot of compliments!!! I also figured out a way to tie the laces so that they’re out of the way completely and I’ve uploaded pictures showing how I did it. ... show more
