    • Best beautiful bada$$ boots
These boots are amazing, truly beautiful and unique. The applique is really nice, seems high quality and still looks very nice after months of use. I love that they zip up the sides. It makes them so much quicker to take on/off than the old style of boot. I bought these over the summer and when I tried them on, I thought, " There is no way these are going to work for me," because they felt so tight and stiff on my feet. Following advice on breaking in Doc Martens on the internet, I took the insoles out of the boots and wore them around the house as much as I could. As they stretched out, I started going for walks in them. Then I wore them to a late summer festival where it rained every day. My feet stayed happy, dry and warm through the whole event. At home, I wiped all the mud off and applied the Doc Marten shoe conditioner, made with lanolin, beeswax and coconut oil. I even rubbed the conditioner over the applique design. The boots became even more supple and beautiful. Then I put the insoles back into the shoes, and they fit me perfectly. They are very comfortable to wear now, even though they are still in the "breaking in" period. I recommend a thin merino hiking sock (like Smartwool makes) to protect your foot from the leather rubbing on your ankles. It is interesting to be back in the "Docs" club again after so many years. I had a few pairs as a teen and in my 20s that I wore out until they literally had holes in the soles and the eyelets had fallen out. I am in my 40s now and I am noticing how evocative the boots are. People who wore docs at any point in their lives feel like they have a kinship with you. They will float right into nostalgia about the boots they wore, or they will tell you all about the ones they are wearing. I have never experienced this with any other shoe, even the quality ones. Something about docs is magical and personal for people. It is a shoe that you develop a relationship with. You walk differently, stand differently. It changes you in a subtle ways. I still have my original Docs from before they changed the leather soles to rubber AirWair. Before they added zippers and made the shoelaces a decorative feature. Before EVERYONE had a pair. They're a little beat up but still look great. Docs were the Gold Standard when it came to punky boots and I wore them everywhere, every day. I haven't bought a new pair in years because I wasn't fond of the clunky wider soles. But, these...these are fabulous! They are prettier than the originals and I LOVE the roses! So many compliments, too. They lace up to mid-calf but do have an inside zipper. You can adjust the calf fit with the laces. They fit as expected. The interior is comfortable with lots of toe room. They are perfect with skirts and dresses. I'm wearing them right now with leggings and a black dress. How do they look? Pretty darn hot. The price is affordable compared to any other pair of mid-size leather boots. And, they have embroidered roses. ... show more

I've been wanting these for a long time, and finally bought them. I wish I had done ages ago! Even on the first wear, these boots are comfortable and fit well - I am in between 8.5-9 in women's shoes, and I was skeptical about these because I've never tried Docs before. Some brands just don't fit when they only make full sizes, but that's not an issue here. The toe is a little longer than it really needs to be, but no one is going to realize that except me! These are so cute, so comfortable, and they will be my new everyday shoes! ... show more

    • Run a little small
Beautiful design and workmanship. Really well executed all around. Quality and nothing but quality. Outstanding footwear. I only looked , I never attempted to put them on. I found them in unmolested condition and they were obviously packed with competent hands. It was a pleasure to have a pair to check out and returning them as found was honored with an immediate refund to billing account. I am still seeking other doc marten footwear to compliment my 1460s. Without question the finest footwear I have had on my feet. Thank everyone for the great experience.     • OMG! I can't believe they are mine!
Wow, that's all i was able to say yesterday when they got delivered! Reviews are right, these boots are gorgeous! I have other Dr. Martens boots, but i had my eye on these for the past month or so. They are quite pricey, and it was hard to justify such a high price tag, especially living in Arizona, but hubby loves me, so he bought them for me. I am a true size 8, and all my docs are UK size 6, so they fit like a glove. I know bunch of people are wondering about the calf size, so i will try to help further. Last year i started living healthy and exercising, so i lost bunch of weight. I am 5'6, i weigh 178, and my calf is 14 inches around, right were boots hit it. I was able to tie them all the way up, without having to loosen up the laces, but it's a snug fit. So my guess is, if your calf is anything over 14 inches, you will have to loosen up the laces considerably, which in my opinion kills the look of these boots. I was ready to return mine if they didn't fit, but luckily my new lifestyle awarded me with an ability to finally wear these. Leather is soft, exactly like on a Pascal model, and i don't see the embroidery on the inside being a problem in the future. Overall, i am beyond happy, even though i feel little bit guilty about paying so much money for pair of boots! But, I am sure i will get over it :) ... show more
