I have been wearing Docs for 30 years from the shoes to the boots in various heights. These are my favorite pair to date. I have read online complaints about the made in Asia Docs vs the made in England Docs. I agree the leather quality is not as good, and you will only get 3-5 years of daily use vs upwards of 10 with the OG Docs due to the leather deteriorating from the inside. But yah know what? wearing the same pair of sneakers daily you are lucky to get a year out of em... However, I am more than happy with these as my "dress shoes" and daily work shoes in the office. The Bex sole is not slippery at all in the winter even on ice. The Crazy Horse color is a beautiful worn in look that gets many compliments. I will buy these shoes happily again every so many years for the rest of my life. ... show more

I’m a size 7.5/8 in US women’s and I ordered a women’s 6 in these shoes and they fit perfect! I wasn’t sure what the look difference was in the 1461 and the 1461 Bex smooth, so I ordered both. These, the Bex smooth, are on the right. Same fit; just different sheen and shoe laces and there’s a little difference in the bottoms. ... show more

Don’t buy Docs through Amazon. Just got to the Doc Marten site for better quality control assurance. Shoes were defective. Came out of the box and the left shoe made a crunching noise on the toe flex phase of my step. Thought about exchanging but the exchange wait was almost a month and I needed these shoes for an occasion within a week. The original reason I purchased through Amazon was bc they could them to me on time. Otherwise I would’ve just gone through Doc Marten direct where the quality control is somewhat reliable. The crunching sounded like crushing a plastic water bottle. I went ahead, put the shoes on, walked a mile and the crunching went away but now both shoes squeak. And not the expected new Docs polished floor squeak you get from the soles. I scuffed the squeak out of the soles with sandpaper. No this squeak is IN the shoe. If I had to guess it’s where the midsole meets the sole and the adhesion between the two has failed. And now they’re rubbing together and creating an embarrassing squeak. The crunching I heard when I first got them was most likely the adhesive matrix breaking. Either way it makes the shoes unwearable and I’ve tried every trick out there to get rid of the noise which makes the shoes unreturnable. Don’t buy Docs through Amazon. Just to the Doc Marten site. You’re going to pay a little more for shipping or wait longer but at least the product will work. ... show more

Quality has dropped in Dr. Martens. Very tight fit. Had to use a shoe horn to get these on and the shoe horn was stuck on a few occasions. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the house with them until they stretched out. So I wore them while working at home for an hour here and there. When I finally decided to run an errand a few days later (they stretched a bit and started to feel a bit comfortable, but still tight) I heard a loud popping with each step in my right shoe. These are excellent shoes for that classic Doc Martin style. Extremely comfortable. They seem to be built well, but not as good as the old 90s Martens were built

What can I say, these are doc Martens. The heel of them is really stiff, so if you got a foot that runs a little smaller than the other you might want to buy some heel cushions for it. But other than that, they look nice and will probably be the last pair of doc martens I will ever need to buy.
