This is a perfect DMX controller to buy if you are just learning the complicated world of DMX programming and don't want to spend a bunch right now. This controller is built in a rugged metal case and the moveable controls are plastic. The controller is jam packed with a lot of features (Like the big boys have) to help you step up your lighting game and start looking a little more professional. Although the manual can be a little confusing YouTube is your friend and you can find a plethora of DMX instructions there. With a lot of features that the pros have and at a great price point this unit is where you need to begin and perhaps it's enough of a controller that it's all you'll ever need. Great deal.

I'm a wanna-be DJ. I never thought it would happen to me, but when I was living in Las Vegas I'd always get invited to clubs. As you're no doubt aware, every big name DJ in the world does residencies in Las Vegas and that's how I got hooked on EDM and the entire vibe. I can't say I have any significant skills, but I love flashing lights and loud music and enjoy messing around with both. I've been accumulating equipment and learning how to use it piecemeal over the past couple of years and that includes DJ lights. I can't say how 'serious' my lights are relative to the lights you'll find in actual clubs but they're *way* more sturdy and bright than the RGB lights in my office. Anyway, now that I have some lights I needed a DMX controller. I *was* happy to discover that you can get a very good DMX controller at a significantly lower price than a DJ controller or mixer. I'm still learning how to use all of the lights I've accumulated but I've been very impressed by the quality of this product. It's solidly built and does everything I need it to. It's full featured yet has a very compact form factor. I wish the documentation that came with the controller was more in depth but that's because I don't exactly know what I'm doing yet. I'm sure that for someone who does the user guide is more than adequate. At any rate, very impressive product at this value price point. Highly recommended!

This DMX 512 Controller for DJ Lights is an okay DMX controller. The instructions aren't very clear. Really difficult to understand. I was able to get it connected and working properly though. It just required some trial & error troubleshooting. I've been using this DMX controller to control stage lights for a karaoke gig that I run. It has been working good enough to control the lights with the music. This is not a very high quality product and it doesn't seem very durable. This will have to make due until I can get something of higher quality.

If you need a way to control, coordinate, plan and then execute the movement and power to an entire stage show's worth of lighting, this is a good choice for doing just that. This DMX controller has the ability to control up to 12 lights, with 16 channels each, and then when you multiply that by the 8 different "scenes" you can start to understand the variety of light movements and changes that are available using this controller. It allows you to realize your creative vision in a single controller. There is a steep learning curve for this device, but that is true for all complicated feature rich multi-light controllers. The material it is made from it good, as is the contruction. 5 stars.

We have a small band that needs lights on occasion. In the olden days when there was just white lights, the controller just had to control the brightness. Now, the new LED lights use at least 7 channels just for one light to control the colors, brightness, flashing, etc. This unit has 12 scanners preprogrammed with 16 channels each (1-6, 17-32, 33-48, etc). There are only 8 physical slidders and a button to switch between 1-8 and 9-16 channel control. The 12 scanners can be turned on and off with a button assigned to each scanner. So, now a single LED takes 7 channels (other lights may differ on the number of channels used) so each scanner would be able to control 2 lights by switching between A & B for the slidder control. You could control all 24 lights (12 scanners times 2 lights each) if you select all the scanners on, but all the lights would act the same to whatever the slidders are set at. But, there is the capability to program scenes so that each light can be set to what you want it to be and each light can be programmed differently. This is what takes the extra time learning to program each scene. Over all, I think for a small number of fixtures (8 or so) this would be ok for like a school play or small band. If you just have white lights, this woukd work great.
