  • Reading Kenny Kim's book was both informative and inspirational
Kenny Kim's book was both inspirational as a wedding photographer would love in terms of seeing the creative eye and truly informative in the way Kenny shares his insights into the business and as an image maker in the field of wedding photography. Unlike other books that spans a chapter trying to explain the how and why of the wedding day, Kenny's writing style engages you to grasp the concept quickly as to why he does things and show you the end results, page by page, chapter by chapter, this book is full of ideas, concepts and reaffirms my understanding of certain things and open up to other avenues that I haven't thought of before, in a manner that are easy to follow, easy to understand and most importantly, easy to remember. Interesting enough, the book is titled "Digital Wedding Photographer's Planner", but I knew that this book was more than just a step by step guide. It delivered more than just that. When you are done reading this book, you will read it again, and again, opening up new thought processes, newer ideas and transforms the way you look and do things. Kenny Kim's success in wedding photography is not just because of his mastery in creating stunning imageries of emotions and capturing the day's greatest love story, His success is attributed into how he interacts with his clients from the get-go, to the wedding day, up to delivering the finishing touches and leaving a lasting imprint into his clients lives. This book is definitely more than just a planners guide, it's a book that guides you on how to be a successful wedding photographer and Kenny himself is no doubt a proof of that. I bought this book together with Bob Davis' Lights, Camera, Capture. A Canon Explorer of Light, renowned for his mastery in camera flashes on and off-camera. I Highly recommended both. • Tremendous book from a world-class photographer
Anyone reading this book will find it informative, thoughtful, practical, and accessible. My wife and I had the pleasure of having Kenny do our engagement and wedding photos last year (some of which appear in the book). We can attest from personal experience that Kenny is a true master of his craft and that he knows what he's writing about. We couldn't have been happier with either the experience of being photographed by Kenny or the results of his work. His technical skill and proficiency is outstanding -- Kenny has a phenomenal eye for light, setting, and angles, which enables him to find incredibly unique shots even in otherwise ordinary venues. He also has a gift for bringing out and capturing natural emotion through his ability to make people feel at ease using humor and empathy. Unlike many photographers who are highly skilled and professional, but take their work so seriously that it makes you feel like you're being graded at a piano recital, Kenny brings humungous amounts of warmth and joy to his work, which is totally infectious. Our engagement photo session -- despite starting off with a pre-spousal spat -- turned out to become one of the most enjoyable and fun days that my wife and I have ever had, which we largely attribute to Kenny's sunny disposition. Seriously, we couldn't recommend Kenny more highly as a wedding photographer or as an author/teacher for those aspiring into the profession. ... show more

  • Provide good info if you aspire to be wedding photographer
The Wedding Photographer's Planner by Kenny Min is mainly a collection of checklist of what to anticipate in typical American wedding. It is quite comprehensive from engagement session, getting ready, ceremony, reception, and after wedding. It also includes some tips about business and further learning. The book is suited for photographers who like to know what is the wedding photographers and what to expect in the event. For seasoned wedding photographers or if you already shots several weddings, the book gives a little value. The style covered in this wedding is pretty much traditional, meaning that most of the photography is done mostly by directing and less about anticipating extraordinary moments (candid style). The checklists are helpful for new photographers so they don't miss any important details, but if you have experience in wedding photography, you should already know 80-90% of the stuff in the book. The book has over 250 pages of content, but unfortunately, it is too heavy on images than on the text. The images are relevant to the page but do not have caption. Also I think the images are not the best of Kenny Kim works. It looks very ordinary. If you need guidance or information how to start a wedding business, the book provide very good reference, but if you are experienced photographer looking for extraordinary insights that will set you to the next level, you should look for other books. • Great resource
I have had the desire to get into wedding photography after spending time working as a professional portrait photographer. I wanted to do as much research as I could before I shot my first wedding because I fully understood how important wedding photography is. I had a hard time deciding which book would be most helpful and I finally decided on this one. It was a great purchase! The information in the book is very detailed, organized, and useful. And the pictures include throughout the book are beautiful and inspiring. Of course, this book alone is not going to make you take great pictures. You still need the equipment, an eye for photography, and a passion for what you're doing. But, let's just say, I started reading this book cover-to-cover before my first wedding shoot and the pictures came out beautifully! ... show more
