I often appreciate having a set of calipers at hand, so I've picked up several for my various workplaces, and replaced ones I don't like. I have some very nice, surprisingly expensive ones, and some inexpensive, surprisingly nice ones. This falls into that latter category. I got it to replace a very disappointing, very inexpensive and cheap to the bone model from a different manufacturer that was plasticky, had a small reach, and would spontaneously reset during measurements if you as much as brushed against the battery cover. This feels super solid, has a nice 8" reach, and has been highly consistent and repeatable. The buttons and tensioner work well. I'm very pleased with the value. Will look to these guys if I have a need for any more calipers.

Since I’ve started 3D printing, I’ve realized the importance of precise measurements when designing replacement parts using CAD software. However, I noticed that my measurements were slightly off, more than could be attributed to the width of the extrusion nozzle. Upon investigation, I discovered that my inexpensive plastic calipers were providing slightly inaccurate measurements. These errors, although less than a millimeter, can accumulate over multiple measurement points on a workpiece. Consequently, I decided to invest in a higher-quality set of calipers. The package includes the calipers, a metal ruler, a small screwdriver, two batteries, and the storage case. The calipers, made from stainless steel, scream precision. They are over three times heavier than my previous plastic calipers. The calipers have a locking screw that can fix the opening or slow the slider’s movement depending on how tightly it’s adjusted. The slider can be moved manually or with the knurled thumbwheel for finer control. The display shows measurements in millimeters, inches, or fractions of inches, and the units can be easily switched with a button. It also features an auto-on function when the slider is moved, which saves time. It can measure external diameter, internal diameter, and depth. When comparing measurements between my old calipers and this new one, I found a nearly 0.2mm difference, which is significant enough to prevent a magnet from fitting into a hole in a PLA part. I’m pleased to now own a more accurate measuring tool! However, I do have two minor complaints: The company includes a nice metal ruler, but there’s no designated storage space for it in the case. It can be forced in, but a dedicated slot would be preferable to prevent potential damage to the calipers. The case has a long, skinny oval indentation that seems to serve no purpose. On the bright side, the case does have a slot for a spare battery, ensuring you’re never without power (although you could still read the graduations if the battery suddenly died). The stainless steel used in the construction seems to contain a high amount of ferrous metal as it strongly attracts a neodymium magnet. This is usually not an issue, but it makes measuring magnets difficult with these calipers. In conclusion, I’m quite satisfied with this set of calipers. They are pricier than the cheaper plastic ones available, but I believe the additional precision justifies the higher cost. In the long run, they will pay for themselves by reducing the need to reproduce modified parts due to inaccurate measurements.

I have a smaller digital caliper to measure my models for 3D printing, but it was a little small. This package came with a digital caliper, a small screwdriver, a metal ruler, a small instruction booklet, two small LR44 batteries, and a case to carry them all. You need to install one of the two battery to make it work. The battery compartment is a little tight, but it will fit. This digital caliper can measure up to almost 8 inches. It can measure item up to 200mm which is a little shorter than 8 inches. It is very easy to use and has similar function as my old one. The metal mechanism slides very smoothly and you can lock it down if needed. Overall, this is a very good size caliper and it meets my need. I highly recommend this product.

Package says: Digital Vernier Caliper; measurement range: 0-200mm/0-8"; resolution 0.01mm/0.0005"; accuracy: +/- 0.02mm/0.001" (<100mm), +/- 0.03mm/0.001 (100-200mm). The product requires one LR44 battery; two were included. Battery was very easy to install, with slide-off cover over compartment on the front. A user booklet was included. The caliper is straightforward to use, typical of scientific calipers. It can do inside, outside, step, or depth measurements. The caliper sits securely in the included case. The bottom of the case is lined with a thin piece of foam and two plastic pins on the cover hold the caliper in place when closed. The product comes with a tiny Philips screwdriver and an 8" stainless steel ruler with inches on one side and mm on the other. The product appears to work fine for general household use. The units can be displayed as inches, mm, or fractions. The caliper was not tested for precision or accuracy.

My old calipers were only good for 150mm or smaller, so it's nice to move up to a larger size that will let me accurately measure up to 200mm. In my initial testing these are exactly as accurate as my old calipers, and feel very precise. The mechanism slides smoothly with minimal effort, but locks down well with the thumb screw on the side. The battery installs easily, and I was pleased to see this comes with an extra spare, and has a place in the case to store it. The addition of the small screwdriver to use to service the calipers should you ever need to disassemble them is nice, as is the extra ruler in both metric and imperial. I tested my measuring a US Quarter, and found the calipers to show the exact correct measurement for this coin. These are a great value at $37 as they are when I ordered.
