  • Better than Levi 501 STF
I really like 501's so tried these as an alternative, can't stand the pre-washed, pre-faded junk that's everywhere, that stuff is for women. If your a man and you like men's jeans look no further. First I followed the instuctions on the first wash, inside out on cold and then dried on low, but they didn't shrink very much so I soaked in very hot water for a few hours, wrung out and then dried them on high and they shrunk to size. I also skipped the spin cycle on the wash cause I was afraid they would get ruined like 501s do. Compared to 501 shrink to fit(STF) they are less finicky the first few washes for 501 I felt like I had to baby them the first few washes or they wouldn't fade right. Creases from being in the laundry basket could end up as permanent lines after a wash. These are holding their color great and not fading quickly. The color is better too in my opinion, nice and dark. 501s get blue very quickly. Also the cut is much better the crotch is lower and the legs are straight so they are not tight at all, very relaxed cut of jeans. 501s could get pretty tight depending on how you were sitting and the crotch wouldn't leave much room if you get my drift. One thing I noticed is they are not as thick as 501s, this could be a good or bad thing. Most likely it's due to cheaper denim so probably won't last as long as 501 but they will be cooler in the summer so won't sweat as much in these, so it's a trade off. Also after I shrunk them they are a standard fit to most other jeans but bigger than 501s which I think run a bit smaller than normal jeans. Also unlike 501 you don't have buy a larger size and try to guesstimate how much they are going to shrink. What it says on the jeans is what it will shrink to after a few washes, this makes things so much easier. I do miss the button fly on my 501's and there doesn't seem to be other colors than blue, that being said these jeans beat 501's hands down. Simply amazing for the price. Seeing as I can buy 5 pairs of dickies rigid for the price of one levi 501 I have to give this a 5 star. If they were 40 bucks I would give them a 4 star, still great jeans at that price. BUY THEM! ... show more

  • Good quality jeans.
Size: 40W x 32L Color: Indigo Blue
Nit: The “watch pocket” is uselessly small. Pick: Quality of materials and construction is very good. Meh: Size is slightly small.

  • It's been nothing but Dickie's for me since 2006.
I started wearing Dickie's black work pants at a job I'd just started working at in 2006. They're practical, fit well on my frame, and are affordable. When I found their line of jeans and tried them, I got the same fit at pretty much the same low prices. So, I've got the fit and the price in a good pair of jeans, what more could I want? And today, after 13 years, a pair of Dickie's jeans can still be found for under $20. That's why nearly my entire wardrobe consists of, on average at any given moment, about 12 pairs of these jeans, in various sizes, and roughly 12 t-shirts, all of which are made by a single company, all have a crew collar, come in various colors, made of 100% cotton and seem to be made to fit someone with a similar frame to my own... they consistently fit well, and they're also affordable... coming in at just over $3 per t-shirt... but I'm not here to review the t-shirts, so I just won't mention the brand. Getting back to my review of these jeans, it may be difficult, or maybe not, to believe that in the years I've been buying Dickie's jeans or even work pants, I always purchased the pants with a waist size of either 30" or 32". I know that I've always been under the impression that the waists sized at 2" increments, the same as the length. I swear, this is the first pair of jeans I can remember, being offered with a waist size of 31"... and I have to stop and think.... why didn't I just buy the pants with a 31" waist?! And now, just as I typed that, I do remember wearing pants with a 29" waist... so, of course, why wouldn't they make a pair with a 31" waist. Have I been so blind to something that to everyone else is a well known fact? I think my whole outlook on Life and Affordable Fashion may have just encountered a major shift in perspective. Regardless of this shift in personal perspective, I must say, this pair of Dickie's jeans is a good value at a good price. ... show more

  • Heavy duty but...
Size: 38W x 34L Color: Indigo Blue
Pretty tight fit. Wearable but I'd prefer a bit looser in the waist. Rest of it fits fine. Pockets are a little shallow and could be deeper. Fit not so far off that I'd return them because we're all going to loose a little weight any day now, right? Update: I bought the next waist size up for a bit more comfort until I loose that winter weight, and they are what I'd call massive. The waist fits right but everything else is huge - butt, thighs, legs. I'm not weirdly shaped, other brands fit normally. MC Hammer would love these. Maybe a wash in hot water will get them to shrink a bit. I really wanted to like these since Levi's prices have lost touch with reality. Have to pay for that stadium sponsorship somehow I suppose. ... show more

  • These are the best jeans you can get, and they're usually pretty darn cheap.
Size: 36W x 29L Color: Stone Washed Indigo Blue
These are the best jeans you can get, and they're inexpensive to boot! I'm an old guy (61 now) and have worn 'Dad Jeans' for many years. The most comfortable jeans I've ever had out of the package were a pair from LLBean that felt like super soft cotton, but they were on sale and since have only been available at too high a price, and wearing them every day wore them out in short order. Dickies, on the other hand, may not be as soft out of the package, but get very, very comfortable within just a few washings and wear like iron! Since the first couple from a few years ago have bleach splash spots from cleaning stuff and yard and car (and motorcycle) stains at the knees, I now have 6 pair and wear them every day. Originally got stone washed for daily wear and indigo for a little more formal (in a jeans-sense) but have since found that indigo becomes a nice stone washed after a few months so now that's what I get and simply let them fade over time. If you don't need that magic stitching on the back pocket, but need jeans that will feel great and hold up over time, these are your jeans. edit 2/15/2017: still great jeans, just wanted to say I just checked and all of mine were made in Mexico. edit 8/27/2023: here I am now 67 and the jeans are great. Couple years ago I got a few more. They’ll probably outlast me. edit 3/24/2025: reviewing my reviews and thought I come back to say, I wear these daily for everything. The ones that are 15-20 years old and ripped out are used when I do yardwork or crawl under the car/truck and get greasy. And I still have 2 new with tags that I got several years ago waiting in the wings. Unless they've changed recently, these jeans are one of the bests investments I've ever made. ... show more
