I discovered this brand of jeans quite accidentally on a clearance rack several years ago and they remain to this day the best brand of jeans I have ever owned. Any plus size woman can tell you that every plus size woman is shaped differently. I tend to carry my weight in my tummy and upper thighs with narrow hips, and have four different sizes of jeans in my closet, all of which fit differently. Democracy is the one brand I can go to for consistent fit in the cuts that suit me (girlfriend, boyfriend, and straight leg). I can pull these off a rack without trying them on and know that they will fit. When this pair arrived, I didn't need to try them on but I did anyway. Sure enough, perfect fit. I have even tried Democracy's pull-on, jegging, and skinny jean cuts in my regular size, and to my astonishment, they all fit. While I could wear them, they're not my favorite silhouette on my body so I wear the cuts I prefer. Shopping for jeans in any other brand is a nightmare for me, so if you have the kind of plus size body who carries extra weight in the thighs and find that the jeans that fit in the thighs are too big in the waist and hips, give this brand a try. For your first time, I recommend buying a size down as well as your regular size (Amazon returns are easy enough). Democracy uses a lighter weight denim with generous stretch, a no-gap waistband that does not cut into you, and a more generous cut in the thighs than most other denim brands. If you have never owned a pair of Democracy jeans before your only regret will be not trying them sooner, and if you take care of them, you'll have them for years. The style I purchased was about $50, which is a steal compared to mall retailers (you could pay twice as much). At the reduced price point, there is simply no beating this quality and fit - these will become your go-to jeans.

I love the fit, but the finish is washed again. Can we just get a pair of dark jeans with minimal detail. Not one that looks as though they’ve been drug along the seashore?! Do the young really like the washed crotch lines that make them look like you sat I. The all day and haven’t washed them in weeks look? Aren’t we done with the rips and tears, the washes that accentuate the butt and thighs? Some of us prefer those areas not to be highlighted. That must be what the “artisanal” means? I was so excited to see the choice of “dark indigo”. Especially since the black choice is no where to be had ( at least in my size). These are VERY comfortable jeans! My favorite. They stretch and are comfy out the gate. The quality is decent, although the regular price is a little high. I’ve taken advantage of sales so the sting in my pocketbook is not quite as bad. I just can’t wear these jeans to anything other than a casual affair, nor work. Which is disappointing. Come on Democracy! Us baby boomers are large in numbers and from the era of normal dark blue jeans, your missing a chance at some nice sales not giving us that choice.

I love these jeans: they have a comfortable waistband, they fit snug but not tight thru the hips, and the legs are loose enough to cover heavier areas of my legs. The lift in the behind makes them flattering. I am planning to purchase more of these jeans.

I loved my first pair of Democracy pants, bought at a store, so I thought I would buy online. I didnt see the ones I previously had so i chose these. I normally fit a 20W, purchased a 18W, which is what I had done with my first pair. I wore them 4 years. POSITIVE: Great fit, comfortable, the waist fit me Above my stomach (no mid-rise cutting me in half), didnt release much color into the first wash, virtually none in the second. NEGATIVE: The Lycra in the fabric stretched out too quickly. Purchased in Dec 2021, too stretched out by September 2022. I can no longer wear them. Sorry I dont have pics.

With a small waist, but heavy in the butt & thighs, I have a hard time finding jeans that fit nicely. These are perfect & my favorite fitting jeans! Material is soft and stretchy, no gapping at the waist. I have had the barely ripped blue jeans for almost 2 years & the rip has never expanded (which I am happy about). The black pair I have had for a year & they get washed at least once a week. The color has really started to fade, but they're still in perfect condition otherwise! Unfortunately, they aren't currently available to repurchase.
