Obviously this is supposed to be for humans, but for me this is for my beloved friend, my cat Giorgio AKA George. He passed away several years ago, and was cremated (obviously). However, he was just in that velvet bag they give you, inside of a pale pink marble jewelry case. It was nice, but not befitting my best friend. When I saw this, I immediately thought of him. His ashes obviously fit perfectly, with room to spare. The way the lid opens could be more secure, but if you are just going to put the ashes in, inside the bag they come in, and leave it in place, it shouldn't be a problem. It's incredibly easy and foolproof to use, and a great value for the materials it's made from. I love the look and aesthetic of this piece. I love the asymmetrical shape. I love the colors. I love that you can put a plant (even has a drip tray) or a candle, or even a figurine if it has a round bottom, among other ideas you could come up with - basically anything that would fit there. I chose an artificial string-of-tears succulent. Three reasons: Because I thought the name was befitting, I like the way it looks to begin with, and lastly it's artificial so it will never die no matter what. It's on a shelf that's the perfect size, with a picture of him in front, a little statue of a saint even though I'm not Catholic, it's the thought that matters and my maternal grandma gave it to me (her memorial is underneath his, on top of my bookshelf), a little crystal mushroom and clear quartz and a copy of the Rainbow Road poem. I love this little set-up and the absolutely gorgeous urn is the jewel of it. I'm so glad my George finally has a resting place that's worthy of how much he meant and still means to me. This item is very nice. I like the simple elegants of the wood. You could either put a candle or a small plant (like a succulent) in the little cup/pot in the top. The urn was large enough to hold all the ashes of an adult. So the size was just right. The only reason I'm not give this five stars is because the magnets that secure the lid to the base are kind of weak. But it's fine for just sitting on a shelf. ... show more

I’m a woodworker so I always appreciate good quality wood working. And yes I know this is for human remains but I’m using it for my dog. However my wife said she’d put me in it anytime she wants haha. The jokes on her I’m to big. Anyway if you look carefully you’ll make out the four magnets imbedded in the edges of the urn, this keeps the lid on snug an very clean looking. Despite what my wife says I think this is beautiful and well made. However this is a very individual choice so good luck. ... show more

    • Beautiful Wood - Great for a Masculine Loved One's Cremains
What a nice change of pace in urns. They don't all need to look, um, Urn-ish, but rather here's a modern take with a rustic touch in the wood construction. Looks great and the plant holder on top is a super idea to make it a decorative piece, but one in which your dear departed is always near. Since it doesn't quite seal as well as some metal or ceramic urns, your cremains should be in an airtight bag, but that's recommend for everything, I think - that's up to you I guess. The wood finish is good and the wood stain is nice in both of the 2 tones. The grain shows through just enough and the satin topcoat is nice because it's not too glossy. It just "fits in" wherever you put it. I like it and recommend it. A nice way to have a bit different display of one's departed kin so that they are always close, but unobtrusive. This urn is neat, and well made. I like that it is wood, and the two colors of wood make an interesting contrast. I also like the idea of having a plant in an urn. I wish the magnets were a little stronger. Also, be aware of the sizing, it says that 1 cubic inch is equal 1 pound of weight prior to cremation, and then in another place it says that this urn holds 150 cubic inches, so ashes from an adult over 150 lbs isn't going to fit. ... show more

This solid wood urn is beautiful and has a small plant holder on the top to help keep the memories of your loved ones alive. The top comes off and when placed on the bottom it's held in place by four small magnets. In the top is the small plant holder and there's a bamboo drip catcher (see photo). The interior where you place your loved one's cremated ashes is relatively small holding up to 150 cubic inches, about the size of a young child or a small adult or teenager.
