  • Caution cosleepers!
Color: Honey Oak Size: 54.38x35x41.88 Inch (Pack of 1) Style: Crib
Update July 2018: So a couple years, a cross country and conversion kit later, this was an awesome investment for us. The issues we had with it for cosleeping aside, we've been pretty happy with our purchase. It was a task (but not too bad of one) to disassemble, but it made the long move with us and nothing broken and was left in the closet for the time being. We never converted it to a toddler bed, instead opting for the full size mattress as we had several houseguests coming in the next six months and wanted a bed for them to stay in because our son still slept with us. My MIL ordered the conversion kit for my Christmas gift and we ordered a box spring and mattress off Amazon. This bed system WILL NEED either a box spring or you will need to put wooden slates to support your mattress once you convert it. It looks BEAUTIFUL and I'm so happy we have this for our son! Now he and I sleep in at as I am getting him used to his own bed, but honestly none of our guests had any idea this was ever even a crib until we told them! I also snagged a bumper for my son so when he's eventually on his own he won't roll off the high side of the bed, but at almost three years old he loves his "dino bed" and can climb up easily. Definitely recommend! We purchased this crib in honey oak for our 10.5 month old, who we have been cosleeping and bedsharing with since he was born. We wanted to use this furniture primarily for cosleeping arrangements so I can get more rest and the toddler bed later on (it does come with the toddler rail). I didn't find many reviews discussing using this as a sidecar cosleeper, and since the ones I did find sounded positive and I like how "green" the crib is, we ordered this. The box came on time and had a corner missing, but the crib is packed well so it had no damage fron the shipment. It took DH a few hours by himself to assemble, and although the instructions are lacking somewhat, it was pretty straighforward. It does scratch easily. Like, my fingernail flicked it and it left a mark on the finish that's noticible even with this lighter color crib. The stickers are also annoying to peel off, I suggest some Goo Gone since the finish is so soft you'd probably damage it with scrubbing it off without any helper. The wood being soft however is also what keeps the crib from being heavy, and as such, it's easy to move around because it feels lightweight. It does look great and feels very strong and solid, despite the finish being soft. It looks way more expensive than it really is. My son had a blast pulling on the rails and jumping/rolling/flinging himself around on the rails and bars, and it didn't budge at all, so it seems fairly sturdy. All that goodness aside, it's not a great choice for sidecaring, and here's why: Simply put, you can see from the 1st photo, that because the front rails are curved, and the crib feet are bowed outward somewhat, it cannot lay flush up against a mattress because the legs aren't straight. There is about a 4" gap between our bed and the crib (3rd photo), when the crib is pushed all the way up next to our mattress. Since our son is almost a year old, our solution was to push the crib mattress up against our mattress (2nd photo) and filling in the gap between the crib mattress and crib railing on the other side with a thick blanket that's level with the crib mattess. I am aware this is advised against for SID'S concerns, but since our son is older and since I intimately know his sleeping habits having slept next to him for almost a year, I feel comfortable that this is a safe solution for us. The mattress I chose to go with his crib is a very high quality and dense/firm mattress, so when applying pressure to the crib mattress that's unsupported for a few inches next to our mattress, there is no give. I can't say if we had a cheaper more flimsy $50 mattress I could say the same. The height of the crib with the crib mattress is pretty much perfect though. Our mattress is 19" tall from the floor up, and with the crib mattress laying on top of the wire support's highest setting, they are level with one another. There are 3 lower settings that we can adjust to if needed, but this fits to our bed's height perfectly. Overall, I'd say yes, it's a soft wooded crib that won't be heirloom due to scratches, dents and bite marks. However, for the price and inclusion of a toddler rail, it's quite beautiful and not too high profile like I've seen some other cribs (we have a small bedroom in a tiny house, so size was a consideration). We have to disassemble it in a year when we move, and it seems like it would be a fairly simple process to do that so we aren't too worried about moving it. Eventually we can buy the conversion kit and it'll make a nice looking bed then too with a gorgeous honey oak color. Overall we are pretty pleased, but the softness/durability concern is what took off a star in this review. ... show more

  • Nice but had defects...
Color: Espresso Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Crib
We love this crib!!! We looked at so many $500+ cribs, read through 1000s of reviews and did a ton of research on the most non-toxic / GreenGuard Gold cribs. It arrived quickly,I love that we'll be able to use it for years to come and convert it into many different beds for our baby. It is sturdy and the quality of details is super nice. Going to look for more Davinci products in future.
But there was a scratch on part C and also two S 2.5 inch machine bolts with barrel nuts were missing. The manufacturing number was not correct so we were not able to register the product as well. You can't miss it and it does stand out but we decided not to return it as the packaging was really good and contacted Davinci customer support team and requested for an early replacement as my due date was very near by the time. I received the replacement for broken part and Nuts in a week’s time. There customer support is really good. ... show more

  • Good once put together, not a 4-in-1
Color: Espresso Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Style: Crib
The crib is solid and looks quite nice. Unfortunately, the holes used in assembly are not drilled properly leaving chunks left in holes that must line up perfectly through several sections. I found success scratching out some pieces with a nail to create a proper opening. The assembly seems needlessly difficult (I found myself wondering if there was some weird reason like copyright because some of the choices are jut bizarre). It is a two person ordeal that will leave you frustrated BUT, once it is together it is a very nice crib. Maybe try and push it off on a family member! Also, just know that to 'convert' this crib into anything else you need to buy extra parts that cost as much if not more than what you could convert it into. I would never recommend this to be bought as a 4-in-1 for that reason. ... show more

  • Really like it so far
Color: Cherry Size: 54.38x35x41.88 Inch (Pack of 1) Style: Crib
The first thing I have to say is that overall, this crib is easy to put together. My husband works evenings, so I put this together by myself. Granted, I am a 5'8" woman with long arms, but the fact that I could put it together solo was really impressive. No fighting with your partner about which piece goes where! It did require some creative balancing at times, but it worked. I did accidentally put the back of the crib on backwards, but I may have been enjoying a glass of wine at the same time, so not necessarily the fault of the instructions. I would say to pay attention to the curve of the back and make sure you're putting it all together the right way - the picture did manage to confuse me. All told, even with having to take apart the back and reassemble it, I got the crib put together in less than two hours. I'm not sure exactly how long it took because I didn't time myself, but my son would sleep about two hours at a time, and I started it after I put him down, and I was done before he woke up, so take that as an approximation. It would definitely go faster with two people and if you don't make a mistake like I did. There was just the slightest hint of new product smell - I opened the bedroom window and put an air purifier in the room for the first night and moved my son to the crib from the bassinet in our room the next night. Probably not necessary, but I'm a little obsessive-compulsive. We purchased the Cherry finish. I know some people have mentioned that the finish on their cribs can get worn off by teething babies, so I'll try to update this post once our son reaches that age. I think that might be a bigger issue with the white finish - the white seems more like a paint and the cherry seems more like a stain that has soaked into the wood and maybe is less likely to come off. Already in the first week, I can affirm that our son wiggles across the mattress as he is waking up and can get his legs caught in between the crib railings, but I think that would be an issue with most, if not all cribs, so I'm not deducting any stars for that. I guess now I know why crib bumpers are a thing - but since you're not supposed to use them because of the increased risk of SIDS, I guess we'll just keep dislodging our son from the railings until he gets old enough not to do that. Overall, really like how this product turned out. In appearance, it looks and feels great. As a side note, we purchased the Safety 1st Heavenly Dreams mattress, which is just a bit too long. It is 52"L x 27.5"W x 5"H. It fits, but the mattress gets caught on the bottom by the metal supports of the mattress frame in the corners. Not an issue for your baby - the top of the mattress is perfectly flat, but the additional crinkling of the corners may put more wear and tear on the mattress. I don't mind, because the mattress is perfectly snug with the sides of the crib, so there is no risk of our son getting caught between the crib and the mattress. ... show more
