Easy to install and a great way to hide the wires behind the TV! Seemed to be a quality product and did everything it is supposed to do.

  • Excellent Fixture - Even into Concrete ! - PERFECT Excellent Fixture - Even into Concrete ! - PERFECT
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
We decided to install a 55" LG TV on a main wall in our office and after much consideration, decided we wouldn't surface mount any wires or tracks in order to maintain a clean and professional look. Our challenge was that this fixture is ideally suited for either sheet rock walls or new construction - In our case the wall is made of concrete block - most of wish are filled with concrete. We also wanted to have a 2" electrical conduit pipe come into the back of the fixture. After all was said and done, we are very pleased with this fixture as we were able to cut the wall, install the conduit into the back of the fixture and close everything neatly. This fixture is very sturdy and well made - the self securing arms on the back side of the fixture held the fixture tightly in place while the concrete work was done to close up the whole thing. We chose to bore a 2" hole from the rear through the front inlet cowl of the fixture just to make access to the wires more direct - the cowl is a nice aesthetic touch but isn't necessary for us as the TV covers the fixture.entirely. I've purchased a number of similar Datacomm fixtures in the past and there have been no disappointments - They are all consistent in Excellent Quality, Styling and Function. I'd recommend that especially for concrete installs like ours, make all your electrical connections first and test them PRIOR to closing everything up with concrete. The outlet we got tested perfectly (see the circuit tester in the picture). Secondly, again with concrete, make sure you seal everything so as to prevent seepage of wet concrete into the fixture and especially it's outlet. Best to consult a licensed electrician for this. We used a chop saw to cut the conduit at a 45 degree angle and then glued the resulting pieces - once they set we wrapped it with duct tape to hold it firm and seal the joint. Some pics attached... Not quite done yet - more coming as we finish the project ... show more

  • Awesome Plate for Clean Looking Setups
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
Let me say first off there are some misconceptions about this plate based on the "most helpful" reviews that are older: - The locking tabs are made out of metal now and are no longer plastic - The plate itself is made out of a very sturdy plastic and does not feel cheap - You can install this on an outer wall that has insulation, just takes a bit of work - No issues with crosstalk/interference from low and high voltage wiring using standard shielded cabling (ran parallel) I used this for wall mounted TV and it worked great. I ran the following wires through the opening with room to spare: - HDMI x2 - Optical - Component A/V - IR Extender (1/8" style cabling, similar to what is used for headphones) - Wii sensor bar extender cable - 16 gauge speaker wire I would recommend changing the outlet with a Leviton surge protected outlet (or similar product) if you do not have another option for surge protection, that is, an option that won't leave your setup looking like crap. You will need roughly 7 1/4 and 7 3/8" rectangular (not a perfect square) cut out based on template, but I would plan on 8 inches plus a few more inches on the electrical receptacle side as it goes into the wall at an angle. I really hate seeing this product getting stars knocked off of it because it is "to big" and the buyer didn't provision correctly to ensure it would fit into the allotted space. This is a really great product for clean looking wall mounted TV installations -- just make sure you have the room for it. ... show more

  • Great large media plate
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
Installation was dirt simple and took me no more than 15 minutes. I was delayed hand screwing in the outlet to the plate because its a tight fit (I could have used a power drill but was nervous about stripping the screws). but otherwise was easy. Pros - large, clean, and nicely recessed space. It is large as reviewers note but definitely serves its function well. Outlet box very easily attaches to plate with small screws. Comes with a template to cut out, to place on wall for drywall cutout. Cons - outlet box sticks out too far. There is no "brush" in the hole to keep airflow from coming through the space where cables come in. Screws to attach outlet to outlet box are VERY difficult to screw in by hand. Overall, great plate and functional. Angle allowed me to recess my cables AND outlet at an angle so I could still plug stuff in. Fits into the space of a stud. Good to go! Now go watch some TV!! ... show more

  • Fits Perfectly, Easy to Install
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
I needed this--an outlet and a passthrough, in white. This looked like it would work, and it didn't require mounting against a stud (which was an issue--and would always be difficult, since the outlet is angled). I measured (twice) and cut the opening. I set the plate into the wall. I flipped the braces into place (for one, I had to loosen the screw a bit--took 10 seconds), then tightened them down. Perfect! The plate and the box are plastic, but sturdy enough to hold up to some pressure and banging around. The outlet feeds from the back, which is convenient for pig tailing (since you will have more room in the box for the other wires, instead of fighting for real estate to the side of the outlet). All in all, I am very pleased. ... show more

  • Product is really good and Easy to Install Product is really good and Easy to Install
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
Does a great job, exactly what I wanted. I had never wired outlets before but with some research I was able to add one of these behind my TV and another on in my Pantry. This comes with the outlet and box to house the wires in. You cut the hole (template included and then place in in hole, it has clips that can be tightened to hold it to the dry wall. TIP: I would install in a inch or two of the stud. The Outlet that it comes with only has the pushing wire receptacles for the White and Hot. There are 4 hole for each. Then the Ground is a green screw on the side. I was easily able to add from existing outlet then add a second one off the new one. Will but again when I need another one. ... show more

  • Not too bad...
Style: with Duplex Receptacle Pattern Name: Wall Plate
For the price, it's a "roomy" box that you can fold cables into, with a hole big enough to shove "extra" wiring back into the wall. The price is a big deal, because you can get less "space" and utility for twice as much money. Meanwhile, I have installed a lot of these things and they're fairly forgiving of "approximate" hole cuts and easy, once you get everything in order, to level, clean, and live with. Still, the quality is less than I'd prefer and there are too many "moving parts." Those tiny screws to hold the electric box on the back... Ugh. Seriously, do everything you can to fit and test this box before you get up on a ladder. You'll have a chance to deal with any "snags" in the process, you're less likely to drop parts or tools, and, you'll have a better idea what you need to do to avoid a meltdown once you get up in the air. Do yourself a favor and buy a better electrical outlet - this one lacks options and has that hated "child proof" door on the plug - not something you should need anyway for small children. And, yes, the big hole for the cables is good, but get some foam or something to fill in the hole... Sound, drafts, bugs - all love a big hole. On your pre-assembly, take note of the best orientation of the box considering your studs that could be in the way of the box "seating" in the wall, how (all) the wires run to the box and how'll they'll "tuck back" from the TV, and so forth. The quality could be better, but for the price you can do very well with a little thought and applied know-how. ... show more
