Founded in 1990 by Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, Dansko’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through our products, our passion, and our commitment to a better tomorrow. Former horse trainers, Mandy and Peter were traveling in Europe when they found the perfect “barn shoe” – the traditional clog. They returned with suitcases filled with clogs for family and friends, and soon started selling them from the back of their station wagon. Word of the clogs’ comfort traveled quickly, and Dansko (meaning “Danish shoe”) was born.

These are very comfortable, although I did use stretchers to adjust the area around my bunions. I could have worn them and stretched them just through wear, but it saves a lot of discomfort to use my shoe stretchers. They are slightly shiny and absolutely gorgeous. I have worn Dansko clogs for 25 years or maybe more. These are awesome and the only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 stars is that my normal size 38 were too big and had to return them for the 37 which fits perfectly.

Treated myself to a new pair of Danskos. They're great in the OR, in clinic, and running errands in town. Bought this snazzy pair for clinic days and it did not disappoint. Solid support to wear while meeting with patients and their families. Pattern is fun but still professional. Lets me add color to my otherwise bland scrub uniform. I do wish they'd come in narrow as they're already feeling a bit too loose/roomy after just a few months of wear. ... show more

I've tried a lot of nursing shoes over the last few years, and nothing beats Danske. There are many look-alikes that are much cheaper, and trust me I know how painful it is to spend over a hundred bucks on shoes that you'll not be inclined to wear on social occasions or dates! Dansko shoes are a bit clunky looking, but they have great arch support, roomy toe box, durable soles, and water resistant uppers. There are hundreds of cute designs to choose from and the size charts are accurate. I love the 2.0 with its little bit of foot cushioning. Traditionally these shoes have no cushion to them and can be much heavier than other brands. If you like a soft cushy ride, like a sneaker or tennis shoe, I don't recommend this style for you. If you like a very firm sole without lots of cush, these are for you. Dansko has done a great job in making these 2.0 models a little lighter and a little bit cushioned, as compared to previous models. I took off one star because the design is some kind of wrap, not printed directly on the leather, and creases at the bend/break of the foot lifted it slightly from the first day.
