Founded in 1990 by Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, Dansko’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through our products, our passion, and our commitment to a better tomorrow. Former horse trainers, Mandy and Peter were traveling in Europe when they found the perfect “barn shoe” – the traditional clog. They returned with suitcases filled with clogs for family and friends, and soon started selling them from the back of their station wagon. Word of the clogs’ comfort traveled quickly, and Dansko (meaning “Danish shoe”) was born.

My other Dansko shoes, while they did not fall apart after 20+ years (of standing, canning, cooking, cleaning, painting, gardening, kitchen tasks, about town), were getting thread bare, scrunched, severely stained and stretched with the heel slightly worn out. They are/were the second oldest shoes I own, but without a doubt the most worn over two decades (yes, that!). I treated myself to some new ones that might have more support, new heels etc. My old ones were discounted at REI and were a size 38, which at the time was a wee big. No matter. I wore them bare and even better, socks in winter. I loved them even though they were a dour grey with some cute stitching to liven them up. These are a 37, fit perfectly almost identical to my old ones and are BEA-U-TI-FUL. I slipped them on immediately after UPS delivered and oh my gosh: heaven! They are so pretty. I realize clogs don't have a lot of s*x appeal, but these are as pretty as they can be. I don't think they are leather (which my other ones were and which I greatly prefer for breathability and conforming to one's foot, but these will stand up pretty well for several years I believe. They are comfortable out of the box! Perfect size (if you are a true-true middle of the road size 7, these will fit). And oh so cute!

I feel it's finally time to write a review. I bought these bad boys in 2021 and still wear them 5 days a week, 10 hours a day. They have normal wear and tear but are holding on strong! Working in healthcare, standing on my feet all day in surgery, my dogs are barking by the end of the day, in general. But these clogs have saved my feet from plantar fasciitis and my lower back from further problems. When I first started in healthcare, I used to wear Sketchers. I've been wearing Danskos for the last 9 years (in healthcare for 10) and these are my 2nd pair of danskos. You get what you pay for. My feet couldn't be happier--same with my wallet. If you're on the fence about purchasing these, let me be the little voice on your shoulder telling you to do it. I have TWO cons with these. 1. Not breathable, in the least. If your feet get sweaty fast, these will make them more sweaty. But they're waterproof and you can wipe any spillage off without worrying about damaging the shoe. 2. They are a "rocking" shoe. If you're a clutz, like me, you might trip over your shoe. I am pigeon-toed and these shoes aren't made to move sideways. I have learned to walk in these shoes, but I sometimes still end up tripping. So, use caution if you walk funny. These clogs are absolute troopers and I couldn't see myself wearing anything other than these for work. I hope this review helps!

I’m an ultrasound tech and an ultrasound instructor so I am on my feet all day long when I’m teaching and when I’m in a hospital so I need a comfortable shoe that also looked professional in dress pants. I decided to order these due to the good reviews and that they weren’t sneakers so they’d look good with dress pants. I ordered the caramel color but I feel like the actual shoe is much darker than the picture advertised. I was hoping for that light brown / tan color and I feel these are a normal brown. They feel comfortable so far and I appreciate the arch support I’m just disappointed with the color. Per the box they sent me the correct thing so it is what it is. The shoe is pretty tight on the tops of my feet but I’m hoping once I break them in more they’ll loosen up a bit. I ordered the 6.5-7, I’m normally a 7-7.5 but per the reviews I ordered down a little instead of up.

I've tried a lot of nursing shoes over the last few years, and nothing beats Danske. There are many look-alikes that are much cheaper, and trust me I know how painful it is to spend over a hundred bucks on shoes that you'll not be inclined to wear on social occasions or dates! Dansko shoes are a bit clunky looking, but they have great arch support, roomy toe box, durable soles, and water resistant uppers. There are hundreds of cute designs to choose from and the size charts are accurate. I love the 2.0 with its little bit of foot cushioning. Traditionally these shoes have no cushion to them and can be much heavier than other brands. If you like a soft cushy ride, like a sneaker or tennis shoe, I don't recommend this style for you. If you like a very firm sole without lots of cush, these are for you. Dansko has done a great job in making these 2.0 models a little lighter and a little bit cushioned, as compared to previous models. I took off one star because the design is some kind of wrap, not printed directly on the leather, and creases at the bend/break of the foot lifted it slightly from the first day. Wish they offered custom painted styles!
