I bought these because I needed something durable and comfortable to walk around in, and Dansko is a trusted name for professional clogs. The color I chose was perfect. It looked great without being too bold, and the shoe itself was clearly well made. That said, I followed the advice in other reviews and sized up. That was a mistake. The shoe was much too big. My recommendation is to start with your usual size. If it doesn’t fit, you’ll know whether to go up or down. I would buy these again, but next time I’ll stick to my true size. ... show more

My first pair of Dansko! Arrived on time and as expected. I originally purchased a size 36 because all reviews I read online seemed to indicate sizing up, but the 36 was definitely too large. I ordered this pair in a 35 (which is also the size I wear in Birks - should have followed my gut!) and these are much better! I love the honey distressed color, which actually darkened just a bit when I treated these with Dansko's beeswax. They are a nice, comfortable fit with very little breaking in. Loose without being too loose, can wear with or without socks. They feel really supportive but look great, and as a petite woman I really love the little bit of height these give me! The shoe AND the box it came in, is labeled the size that I ordered. But is huge. They are mismarked! I have several pairs in the same size and these are way too big!! I contacted the company and they would not due anything for me!!

    • Good shoe but a little trouble finding correct size.
Have always loved this style and brand. Once upon a time, I had many, in size 37. Before I could wear them out, they got too small. So I thought I'd get a 38. Judging by my size in other shoes, I thought that would be the 8.5-9 listed. No - it is the 7.5-8. I guess that surprises me, because I wear an 8 or 8.5 depending on the style and whether I expect to wear thick socks. I figured the 7.5-8 would be way too small for anything but the thinnest of socks (if even). Nope, I ordered 2 pair, one of each size, and the 7.5-8 (aka 38) fits great even with thicker socks. The 8.5-9 (aka 39) is way too big with thin and even thick socks. The 38 gives enough room in the heel that it should not rub. Also, I have average to wide feet with a decent bunion on one foot, and these are quite roomy enough in the toe box. Happy feet = big smile! ... show more

These shoes are great, but give them time to get used to your feet. When I bought these I had never owned a decent pair of real leather shoes. I didn't know how they would feel prior to my purchase. But, I'd heard time and time again that Dansko makes the most comfortable clog for long days on your feet, so I gave them a shot. I run a hotel restaurant and have been an avid wearer of a certain rubber clog, but didn't get the proper support I needed and my ankles were killing me. So bad that I thought I was in need of medical attention. Since wearing these though my pains have almost disappeared. I'll be honest, my first few days were painful. I almost went through with returning them for a larger pair. After reading reviews about how others did the same, however, and ended up with a pair too big, and then researching leather shoes in general I decided to keep them and see what happened. Like I said, the first part of you and your clog's relationship will most likely be painful, but what I'm starting to learn is that your foot will work and soften the leather to exactly fit itself. Those of you who have ever bought a brand new leather baseball mitt will understand. It takes work and patience to achieve the perfect fit. Here are some tips that I've found to work. 1. Don't go a full day wearing these. It will not end well. Your feet will hate you. Consider taking a day's break in between to let the leather dry out and breath after your feet sweat. It will also let your feet rest. 2.Get some leather conditioner and use it on them right away. It will soften the leather and help break it in faster. Repeat this procedure every few months to keep them from cracking and to restore oils lost. 3.Trust your shoe size. If your toes aren't mashed and your heel has about a pencils width between the back of the shoe, then you should be fine. 4. I've found that the shoe collar along the top of your foot will need to stretch. It will probably hurt at first but once your foot sinks down towards the front of the shoe it will progressively feel better. Take some time and research the proper care of leather shoes from reliable sources. With time and patience, and some pain, these shoes will become a best friend for your feet. ... show more
