Description

Founded in 1990 by Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, Dansko’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives through our products, our passion, and our commitment to a better tomorrow. Former horse trainers, Mandy and Peter were traveling in Europe when they found the perfect “barn shoe” – the traditional clog. They returned with suitcases filled with clogs for family and friends, and soon started selling them from the back of their station wagon. Word of the clogs’ comfort traveled quickly, and Dansko (meaning “Danish shoe”) was born.

  • plantar fasciitis pain gone
Size: 9.5-10 Color: Camo Suede
i have scoliosis, and the left side of my body is lower than my right - so i always experience plantar fasciitis pain in my left foot. these shoes allow me to be pain-free without the use of an insert in my left shoe. the soles are quite solid. there is no need for break-in with these shoes. they do their magic as soon as you put them on (provided that they fit). i am a 9.5 regularly, and the 9.5-10 size fits perfectly. if you're looking for quality shoes to address foot pain, i highly, highly recommend these. and, the camo ones are very attractive! ... show more

  • Use a leather conditioner ASAP to protect them
Size: 8.5-9 Color: Honey Distressed
I purchased the honey distressed color and I think they are really pretty. While wearing them I was doing stuff in the kitchen and noticed that water droplets absorbed deeply instantly. It took a long time for them to dry (hours). Fortunately they didn't stain, and I was able to put some leather conditioner/waterproofing on them before they stained. They absorbed a lot of product, so they were very dry. I highly recommend doing this before you wear them if you are like me, and like your leather to look clean and not beat up, especially with water drops. Now that wide-leg pants are back in style, I love having a pair of these clogs again. They balance out the pant leg and give me a little extra height to keep the paint leg from dragging on the the ground. I think they are too expensive for what they are (Mine were $151 with tax), but I guess most things are these days. I had a pair a decade or so ago that lasted me for years and I think I only got rid of them because I had moved on in style. I hope these last as long as those did. Somehow they are comfortable, yet awkward and boxy at the same time. Hard to explain, but I'm really glad I decided to get them. ... show more

  • Best shoes you’ll ever own, after you break them in!!!
Size: 8.5-9 Wide Color: Black Box
So, before buying any dansko clogs, there are a few things you need to know- or you will not love your shoes. First, you need to order a size larger than you normally wear, there is supposed to be extra room. Second, these shoes need to be broken in, because they are made out of strong leather, and it can take a month to break them in, depending on how often you wear them. Also, my understanding is that they are hand made, that’s why identical pairs fit differently. Now with that being said, after ordering the correct size, and they are broken in- these will be the best most comfortable shoes you ever own. I got these shoes as part of my nursing school uniform. I was so excited when I got them, I made the mistake of wearing them on a double shift as a CNA. By the middle of my first shift I was cursing out my nurse friends for suggesting I get these clogs. They were tight, stiff and my feet were swollen. I was at work and had no other option but to ride it out. That’s when they told me about the break in period. By the end of my last shift I was taking turns standing on one foot to give the other a rest, like a flamingo! After that I would wear them when I ran errands or around the house. I slowly wore them more often and got through it. It was hard, I even offered people money to break them in for me! Now, i wear them everywhere all the time! When I buy another pair I will just take them to a cobbler to be broken in. Now, with that being said, I swear these shoes are the most comfortable shoes once they are broken in. I once had to walk home from nursing school, 8 miles, in these shoes. Not once did I have to stop, my feet felt better than if I had appropriate sneakers on. To the point I started doing my regular walking in them! These shoes will last forever and you will love them!! Just find a cobbler to stretch the leather. ... show more

  • Have Been Buying For 20 Years - They Last 12-18 Months For Me
Size: 9.5-10 Color: Black Oiled
This is year 20 for me wearing Dansko professional oiled leather clogs with full backs. I did a detour with backless clogs for my last pair but they are not as roomy, your foot slides down more for some reason, and for me they were not as comfortable. What I have learned about these clogs which are sized European is that I had to go up a size. I am normally a 9 wide and I wear a size 40. I learned this by trying on these clogs in person and now that I know it, I accept it and am not complaining. Actually before my first pregnancy I was an 8 - 38, then after baby one moved up to 8.5 - 39 and then after baby two I landed and stayed at 9 - 40 for the last 14 years. If you have never worn these before I highly recommend you try them on in person first. I love the "box toe" and that I can move my toes around inside the shoe. It is imperative that you wear the same thickness of sock when trying them on vs. wearing them daily. If you normally wear a medium sock and you switch to a thin sock these will feel huge and you will slip around. If you put on a thick sock they will be tight and uncomfortable. So stick with one sock type! I have "Morton's Toe" or "Greek foot" where the second toe is longer than the first. I have a really hard time finding shoes that are comfortable. Perhaps this is why I wear one size up in Dansko, I am not sure. A tip: when you find that the your feet start to get sore from standing too long, on the soles of your feet, it may be that the shoes are worn out. I find that after 12-18 months of daily wear of one pair of clogs that they are smashed down in the cushion part of the shoe and need replacing. This happens to mine before the sole is worn out or before the uppers are all ruined or unsightly. I usually own just one pair or two at a time and wear them every single day. For most years I wore them year round but now that I moved to Houston I am in sandals six months a year. I have never worn shoe inserts inside the clogs. I rate this 5 stars = I Love Them. ... show more
