  • DCC Bootcamp is Legit!!
Jay does an awesome job teaching this bootcamp; have 5 and 10 dumbells and a yoga mat on hand. It's a good workout you can easily do at home or anywhere else.

  • Probably for beginners
I adore the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and really looked forward to trying this. However, I was a bit disappointed. I found most of the exercises nothing new and not very challenging. I am speaking as a nearly 47-year-old woman who weighs 196 lbs at 5 feet 4!!! I did indeed sweat but it seemed like there was a lot of down time between exercises as Jay (I do love him) talked. However, I have been working out a lot for about 6 months and have lost 64 lbs so far and I've been doing it by going to the gym, eating less, and doing a lot of The Biggest Loser DVDs and Tae Bo. I am not really a beginner and I think this is probably aimed at beginners or for those who want a lighter workout on a given day when not feeling too well. There are a few things I like about the workout though. 1. The cheerleaders are gorgeous and very inspiring. They are in unbelievable great shape and that is inspirational (even though I will never look like that..lol)2. Jay is very encouraging.3. I like that they are doing the workout out on the football field. It really helps you imagine you are training with the DCC! 4. Lots of instruction on how to do the exercises properly. My final opinion is that this is (a) a workout for beginners or those who want to switch to a light workout (b)Not for anyone who wants something hard core which is what the words "boot camp" brings to mind for me.....I was hoping to find a DCC workout that actually teaches basic routines they do during game time. Now, THAT is something I would definitely buy and KNOW would kick my over-40 behind! ;) ... show more

  • Focused & Fun, not Frantic
I love the casual approach to this workout routine. And by that, I mean it seems less rehearsed than other workout DVD's(not to imply that it is an easy workout). There are 7 women(3 of whom focus on beginner, intermediate and advanced moves). Each of the women responds to the exercises in a real and different way, so you feel like you are working out WITH them as opposed to them staring out at you. As other reviewers have said, the exercises are effective with appropriate breaks in-between(so you aren't frantically moving through the exercises but can instead focus on executing the moves correctly). There is an intro, an option to play all of the routines, an option to execute low or high impact moves only, and a bonus workout section(which includes an instructor guided breakdown of the exercises, a 9 min "arm assault", a 7 min "ab assault" and 20 min "intro to yoga"). If you choose to play all of the routines, your workout will last for 68 minutes. This option includes 2 min of warm-up, 26 min of low impact(lower, upper, core), 25 min of high impact(lower, upper, core) and a 6 min cool-down. The audio options allow you to play the dvd with the instructor only or music only if you don't prefer both together. Overall, I would recommend this DVD as it is inexpensive, effective and enjoyable. ... show more

  • great workout but have to rewind alot
This dvd is probrably the best of the 3.The whole dvd takes place on the field of the texas stadium. There are about 6 or 7 cheerleaders on the field. The workout outs are in 2 sections the low impact and high impact. The workouts really do work I did feel my lower body my legs ache for 3 days. But you may want to rewind the video about 4 times if you really want to work out a certain exercise to get maximum results. You do feel like you are really in a workout session with the cheerleaders, but can feel like your in a high school gym class.Jay does talk alot of talking in between the exercises sometimes too much, but you do have time to catch your breath.if you have knee problems you may want to be careful, there are alot of squats and he tells you to get low[...] is a 5 minute ab blaster workout but some of the moves are for advanced like the cheerleader who is showing them, who probrably has been doing these exercises all her life so she's very core strong. There is a breakdown of all the exercise moves he shows you how to do them so you don't feel lost when you workout with the cheerleaders. ... show more

  • I found one I finally like and will use!
I love the DCC Making the Team series, but every time I watch, I'm thinking that I need to really kick my work out into high gear. Having a 3 year old and 10 month old makes it hard to get to the gym every day. I've taught aerobics in the past and have had a hard time finding something that would actually make me want to work out in my own living room. This dvd does. The drills made me sweat a little and my muscles work. If you want a little bit more, make sure you have some 5 -8 lb. free weights or something comparable around your house you can use. Keep in mind that you're most likely NOT going to look like a DCC just doing this dvd. I will still make regular trips to the gym or take a run around the neighborhood, but on the days I can't make that happen, I will definitely do this dvd. Love the drills and the total ab assault! I also appreciate how the girls in the video aren't super perfect and robotic. It seems a little more natural feeling than other dvds I've seen. Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • Decent supplemental workout - not enough to replace the gym, tho.
I found this DVD workout to be pretty good for a semi-quick home workout on days that I can't make it to the gym. Especially the High-impact workout really works your gluts, gets your heart rate up a bit, and can work up a little sweat. My only complaint would be that there isn't enough ab-work for my liking... although the DVD does offer extra workouts to work separate muscle groups on their own - and abs is one. The trainer is nice and fun - doesn't make you angry, nor roll your eyes; he also has 3 girls work 3 different levels (easy, medium, hard) so you can make it a little more challenging if you want. With all that said, this DVD doesn't replace a good gym day (for me, anyway) but is a nice thing to have when you can't make it too the gym and/or want to supplement at home. Overall I like it and find it nice to have. ... show more
