The instructions say to apply with the use of a heat gun, but does not mention the adhesive backer. I have fairly long nails for a guy, and checked for a backer and could not catch an edge... Positioning it on the board smeared some kind of residue so I assumed it was just supposed to activate with the heat. After heating it up, the thing stuck like a static-cling sticker, and I was off to the slopes. After one run, they had popped off. After looking at a new set, someone with experience scratched at the edge for a few seconds to reveal the invisible backer that was not mentioned in the instructions... and was also invisible. Installation after that was a cinch, and it's held tight. That's a little on me for being an idiot, but also a little on them for not putting a stamp or split on the backer or a note in the instructions. ... show more

    • Poor instructions led to loss of all pieces

I'd say this was completely worthless, but after reading some reviews that I wish I'd read beforehand, it seems my problem was due to poor instructions. The instructions said to heat the pieces and the board with a heat gun, apply, and allow to set for 24 hours. I did that, and all three pieces fell off on the first run. Based on reading another negative review here, it seems there's a clear backing that needs to be peeled off before heating, which was totally invisible and the instructions made no mention of it. ... show more

Purchased the green, it showed up and looked yellow. :( Sent back and ordered the clear and it looks fantastic on my Never Summer Proto Type 2! I wiped new board with rubbing alcohol, then heated with a hair dryer. Be certain to remove clear backing film, attached great and the colors of the graphics come right through the pad. ... show more

Easy to apply and worked really well! Bought two so that both my wife I have the same stomp pads now. Extra bonus for being clear so it doesn’t block the designs on our new boards. Instructions are simple. 1. Clean your board. 2. Heat a piece for about 30 seconds with a hair dryer. 3. Peel off sticker 4. Press onto board (getting all bubbles out). 5. Repeat with other two pieces. 6. Put a heavy weight on it overnight 7. Shred with confidence the next day! ... show more

So far I love this stomp pad. It is wicked clear and that is very important to me as I still like to enjoy seeing the graphics on my board. Also, the fact that it is three separate pieces gives the option of keeping them together or spreading them out to increase the surface area of available grip. Installation was easy. Just remember to remove the clear backing from the stomp pad pieces to reveal the actual adhesive before applying heat and placing on your board. That isn’t in the instructions and can be easily missed if not aware or looking for it! Hoping to have this pad for a long time so we will see how it holds up once I am able to get it on the slopes this season! Update: Been on the slopes and this stomp pad performed without a problem. Great traction and the scraper works perfect. No issues and the adhesion kept this thing rock solid! Another good product from Dakine!!! ... show more

Ive been using mine in my Board all winter and have had no issues at all. I don’t think it’s ever gunna come off to be honest. Super strong adhesion. And it’s clear so no one even sees it.

    • Perfect but remove backing

This stomp pad is perfect. I love that it’s 3 pieces and can be customized to my boot and board. It has great grip and I like that it’s transparent and doesn’t cover my board but just disappears. As other reviews state, the instructions do not mention that you need to remove a clear film to uncover the adhesive before heating it up and applying it to the board. Other than that the instructions are very clear and detailed and after following them exactly the stomp pad adhered and works perfectly. I’m very happy with it and highly recommend, just don’t forget to remove the backing from the stomp pad. And make sure the board is room temp a day before and a day after application. ... show more
