Great little tool, no real excess fighting properly crimped pins. Worked very well happy. With it. Didn't work perfectly on the smaller Garmin D sub (mini or whatever it's called) stuff but I was able to make it work. Makes working on 1990 tech in 2025 much more enjoyable. (Someone please bring GA out of the stone ages.)

I've worked with D-Sub connectors for years. I struggled with the old red and white pin tools all that time. This is, without question, the best tool for D-Sub pins I've ever used. It works perfectly and doesn't get bent beyond use like the red & white ones; it just doesn't get bent at all. I highly recommend it to anyone who has needs for installing, removing or repairing D-Sub pins. I'll put one in each of my tool kits.

Comes in very handy when you need it but it is very delicate. You have to be as gentle as possible or it will break on you. Best bet is to expect to break one, so better grab 2.

When you buy these tools, you go into the deal knowing that they are a consumable on any given job; if you use one long enough, it break. I recently had a project where we had to repin 385 cables. 2 pins each. I bought 3 of these figuring that if I could get 100 cables out of each one, I would be in good shape. My partner had also purchased 3 so we had 6 between us. At the end of the day, we broke 1. I was very impressed. For the nerds in the room, AMP standard DB-25 on one end and Motorola "J2" on the other end - worked for both pins (Motorola 3980034F0* are different pins than AMP LIMITE) - the tool works well on both.

I tried using one of the red/white extract tools and after struggling for perhaps an hour, I wasn't able to remove a single pin. This tool looked like it might work better, so I decided to give it a try. Removing the pins was easy. I inserted the tool, heard a click, rotated 90 degrees (per the instructions) and then pulled both the wire and tool. This worked every time to remove both male and female pins.
