But one of these about a year ago to use on our river trips and it is definitely been helpful because it is completely solid and wood compared to the plastic ones that are flimsy and you can’t use them to push off the side to get away from the trees. We used various sizes of this paddle to fabricate handrails for our basement stairs. Fun project, and we really like the look. That being said, a few of the shafts were rough, so we had to sand and clear coat them, a couple had large dark patched spots, and one of the 6 footers was bowed.

The paddle shaft and parts of the handle are either very poorly finished or not finished at all. Unsanded and I will redo that myself. The paddle blade is more of a concern - the glue up is incomplete with gaps throughout. "Crooked" indeed.
