The compartments are sturdy, but far too short to be useful for anything but maybe markers. I was going to return this & then I had an idea💡!! It worked, so I’m passing along to other potential buyers and/or potentially frustrated consumers. I took 6 empty water bottles (this is specific, see photo) and cut them about 5 1/4 - 5 1/2”tall. It’s a snug but perfect fit!! I used the white center cup they provided in one of the perimeter compartments & replaced it in the center with water bottle. Info: Costco “Kirkland” alkaline water (in cases, found in back corner of stores usually) To cut bottles, make a slit towards the top (carefully) with a utility knife. Then with scissors, cut down to near height you want, and then spiral cut until you have a straight smooth top. The bonus is the bottles are clear, so you can see what you’re trying to find easier. This one accommodates my brushes. I’ll be getting a second one and following the same modification for my colored pencils. Hope this helps somebody!! 😊 ... show more

My kids love to draw, now as they are getting older we’ve moved on to paint markers and sharpies and this is a good way to sort larger markers by color and the spin feature is great for when they are in the zone.
