Sure, you can block sun with a towel, but this lightweight shawl/scarf works for a lot more than that. I used it as a travel scarf and blanket on my flights, too. The lightweight quality made it easy to wash in the tub to get all the airplane germs off, and it dried quickly for use on my vacation. Bought two for our trip to Sint Maarten and did not sustain any sunburns. Light to pack, quick to dry and stretchy to use as a sorong. I wish I had a picture but I also used it as a ‘tent’ at a beach that had little shade. Yes! I tie two of the ends to the base of a lounger chair and the other two to branches of the palm trees. I am concerned and careful as to not sustain UV damage and thus product delivered! Highly recommend - travel light and save your skin! ... show more

I know, sounds dramatic, but for folks with BRP that have to avoid the sun (even though you love being out in it) this a game changer. This is my second purchase of a Coolibar UPF 50+ Sanibel Everyday Beach Shawl and it was the first thing I thought of for my husband to get me again for Christmas. It’s just that important in my daily life. SPF aside, the fabric feels so good, does irritate my sensitive skin, drapes beautifully without making you hot (I’m also a menopausal mess with hot flashes), is breathable and, maybe most important, the fabric always feels cool to the touch. I can’t say how many times this has taken the edge off of symptoms for me until I’ve been able to properly ice my arms. I recommend them often and have even shared them with my dermatologist in case it helps others. I’m quite thankful for stumbling onto this back when I was desperate to find something to allow me to easily enjoy activities in the sun again, even to be able to ride comfortably in a car on a sunny day. ... show more

Soft, sturdy, dries fast, perfect size. It is long enough to double knot it to wear as a skirt or shawl. I wore it to hide my sunburn and was told I looked glamorous. Overall it was useful and I received many compliments about the look. If i lose it then I will buy it again!
