    • My favorite everyday shoe - goes with everything, super comfortable and cheap!

I love Chucks. They're my favorite everyday knockabout shoe for jeans or shorts. That said, they have some peculiarities. They tend to run about a half-size big in length. At the same time, they're kind of narrow for me. So rather than going DOWN a half-size (as most people recommend) I tend to go UP a half size, to accommodate my hobbit-like feet. I end up with about an inch of headroom at the toe, but the shoe doesn't slide around or anything. In fact, the sidewall of the sole still ends up separating from the canvas at the ball of my foot, long before the shoes are worn out. Oh well. I've grown accustomed to it. The trade-off is, (at least for me) it's almost like going barefoot. I wouldn't want to run a mile in them, but they're plenty comfy to wear all day. I tend to look for sales because $50 is a bit high for what I basically treat as a disposable shoe. But at $40 or below, they're worth every penny. Oh, and if you want arch support, throw in an insert. I moved the inserts from a fancy-pants pairs of Chucks over to a pair of slip-ons, and I have to admit, it's pretty nice. I bought these shoes for weightlifting since they're nice and flat and I can feel the ground under my feet. I like the look of these all black converse because they are nice and simple - I bought a pair of fun laces (purple and blue galaxy print) to make them stand out but they still look fairly clean and simple. My only issue with these is that I wear them for my whole workout which often includes pushups, mountain climbers, and planks and when I allow my toes to bend under, the seal between the fabric and the rubber sole puckers and I worry that they will start to separate at that point (I almost think they already are and I've only had them for about 2 months). ... show more

I've been wearing converse for the last 20 years. What happened to the quality? My first pair lasted 6 years before they started separating. I have worn these 4 times. 4. And the side near the toe is already separating. Long time loyal, but I'll find other shoe.
