The drawcord waist and tab adjustable leg cuffs ensure the elements are locked out for all day comfort. Columbia offers these women’s winter waterproof pants in two colors and multiple sizes. To measure the waist correctly, measure around your natural waistline, allowing the tape measure to sit comfortably. For the hips, measure around the fullest part of your hips. I purchased these pants when they were on sale in XS. Initially, I thought I should size up because I was going to be putting warm layers under these pants. However, these pants were the perfect fit. I wore these pants on a three day backpacking trip. They were totally waterproof— they withstood two days of rain, tons of mud, and were breathable enough that they allowed me to dry up super quickly after a swim in freezing water. I have been desperate to find a fabric mosquitos can't bite through until it dawned on me: waterproof. But then finding pants that were ACTUALLY 100% waterproof was a whole other issue. THESE ARE. I've bathed the dogs while wearing them, they are completely waterproof and better than that, THEY'RE MOSQUITO PROOF. I get snacked on like a juice box once it's warm in Texas and typically they only EVER bite my legs (even though I never wear shorts and I'm always in a tank top) and that is where I have a weird horrible allergic reaction to them. Since I got these, I don't go outside without them on and now they're just biting me on the back like cowards (but i don't have an allergic reaction to those so whatever i guess) SO THE PANTS ARE DOING THEIR EXTRA JOB. Zero bites on my legs. As for fit, I got x-small, I'm about 5'4 and weigh 100 pounds and they fit perfect. I probably could have gotten the shorter fit and it would have been fine but I don't mind a little extra length at the bottom, they're not dragging on the ground or swallowing my feet or anything like that. They DON'T have pockets, however there is one small pouch on the inside that you could put something small in like a wallet or money (it wouldn't fit a phone its not that big). They do do the swish swish sound like windbreakers so if you're looking for quiet pants, these aren't them, but otherwise, they ARE waterproof and they are mosquito proof, and they're comfortable and light enough to wear in texas heat without feeling like theres a swamp in my pants. ... show more

Ordered the “short” length and it’s perfect. Velcro around ankles are somewhat useless- could have been made to tighten it more. These pants did keep me dry. There aren’t any pockets. Fits nice, but a bit snug around the butt.. I had another person try them on and they said the same- tight fitting around the bum. I guess these pants are good but not for the price. ... show more

I finally decided to buy these pants after weeks of going back and forth, as they are a bit expensive. Let me tell you, they're worth every penny. I took these on a trip to Iceland where I really put them to a test--I stood directly under a waterfall and was drenched in water. To my amazement, my leggings underneath these pants did not have a single drop of water on them. Best of all, they dried off very quickly. I went with a medium after reading the reviews, and they're perfect for me. I wore leggings under the pants and fit perfectly. I bought these for an upcoming trip to Alaska and I think they are going to do the job. I am able to wear them over jeans. I like the elastic waist because it felt comfortable. I am 5’ 2 3/4” , 128 lbs. I bought a medium short and its a perfect fit.

The pants in a L are big enough to fit over my regular jeans or leggings. The bottom leg openings are big enough to pull over boots and shoes. As others noted, the velcro at the bottom of the leg openings is much too short to be useful. It pulls in the wide opening no more than 2". Great maybe if you are in ski boots but not entirely helpful in less clunky footwear. The design would be a lot better if the strip was longer. Also, even for me at 5'6" height, these are about 3" too long! Crazy long and no way to shorten them. I'm keeping the pants for emergencies and when hiking where there is a ton of rain and wind. These are awesome! Lightweight, waterproof, and cool. Not too tight and not terribly loose. I like my pants to be a relaxed fit as opposed to snug, so these are perfect. Roomy enough to wear leggings underneath in the winter, which is nice. Adjustable Velcro straps at the bottom. Can easily bend to lift things, sit down, stoop, etc. and I don’t feel restricted in movement at all. The only reason I took off one star is because it would be even more awesome if they added pockets. Update 11/2021: Just wanted to update and I’m now giving these 5 stars even without pockets. I’m a grooming assistant/bather and these have kept me completely dry underneath, even when the pants themselves get soaked with water when I’m bathing big dogs. They dry quickly and the waterproof quality hasn’t declined after washing. I’ve followed the directions on the tag, but once I accidentally put them in the dryer on high heat. No damage done. I won’t do that again, though, just to be safe. Glad I found these! ... show more

These pants are phenomenal! While not fleece lined, when worn over leggings they are warm enough for winter sports of all kinds without being too hot. Good room to move, and are wide enough in the ankles to pull on over boots. They are also great for camping and hiking in the rain and mud. I recently went on a scout campout with freezing temps, mud, rain, and snow and these pants were total lifesavers. See photo. They came clean easily and are good as new.
