I live in Minnesota and these boots have kept my feet warm and they have great traction on ice. I bought them after I had slipped and fell on a wet slippery floor in the grocery store earlier this year so when I purchased these boots I was looking for boots that would be safe on slippery floors and icy sidewalks . I wore them for 4 months of the most treacherous winter I have experienced in Minnesota, it was the snowiest year on record. Although I had to walk on ice many times in parking lots and driveways I never slipped. They are also very water resistant, as I worked 8 hours a day shopping and delivering about 8 orders or groceries a day and I was in and out, cold outside to inside grocery stores with wet floors and back outside in snow or ice and sometimes puddles , my feet stayed warm, comfortable and dry. I literally only wore these boots for 4 months, I was recovering from a knee injury and I could not risk falling but had to brave the cold and icy driveways, parking lots and sidewalks. These replaced some awesome North Face boots that I'd had for almost 15 years before the plastic cracked, so they were some literal tough shoes to fill. They have been good, had them for three midwest winters at this point, and they have been quite satisfactory. They still look great, they haven't broken in the outers, stitching, or soles. Size: 10 Color: Charcoal, Nocturnal
While these aren't as padded and comfortable as my previous pair of Columbia boots they make up for it in other areas. These boots are much warmer, stylish and are more waterproof. They are still pretty comfortable, but not as padded as my other ones. The last time I wore them it was a warmer, snowy and slushy day. My feet stayed completely dry. I have feet that are a little wider than normal, but had no trouble with the width. I normally wear a size 9.5, but ordered a 10 so I'd have room for thicker socks. The 10 seemed a little big even with thicker socks so I then ordered a 9.5 to be sure I had the right size. The 9.5 fit with thicker socks, but felt too tight in the toe box for my liking. I would say these run pretty true to size, but if you like a little more room for winter/thicker socks maybe go a half size up. If I didn't have feet that are a little wide the 9.5 would have been fine. I hope this helps someone else so you don't have to order two different sizes like I did. I did also measure my foot before ordering, but when the sizes are so similar in length it wasn't super helpful. ... show more

I work as a Lift Operator at a ski resort. Had a rough winter but these held up when paired with proper winter socks. I didn't notice any water issues. I like these better than the Sorels I used to own. Water has never penetrated the boot and they have kept my feet warm enough when it is cold outside. I have a very high in step so these were not quite tall enough for me but did adjust to a better position

I needed a warm and waterproof boot for walking in the suburbs and city, in snow and cold. But not something that looked like a boot designed for hiking up a mountain. I tried on a bunch and finally decided on this one. It’s comfortable, waterproof, and just high enough for what I needed. I did end up walking in some snow that was kind of deep. And the snow did fall in. But it is a mid-calf boot, not designed for high snow. So, *don’t walk in high snow* in this boot, and then complain about it afterwards. I have another pair of boots for when I go up to the ski resort and walk around up there, wait for the bus, etc,… So I don’t need another pair of high boots. I love this boot.
