I'm 5' with a larger chest. I usually wear a small or, if small in the chest, a medium. I wear a small in this dress and it fits perfectly. I've received a million compliments about how it flatters my shape, and it's so comfortable! You can dress it up or down with shoes and jewelry. It works great as a fancy or sporty dress. I just bought a second one in navy. It's fitted just under the bust line, which means it's flattering even if you have a little bit of a belly. I wore this dress to an outdoor concert in some intense heat and it did its job of keeping me as cool as possible. The fabric allows air flow and the dress is lightweight. The dress was also very flattering. I got a size small and I typically am a size medium shirt and size 6 or 8 pants.

I did love this dress, and it fits true to size (I am 5'7 and 127 pounds, athletic, small fit perfect). I agree with other commenters that the dress is made of a thin, swimsuit like material, however that is what I was looking for. The dress is light, breezy, and very comfortable. My only issue is the material. Columbia is a sportswear brand, highly touted for being outdoor and activity friendly. The second time I wore this dress was to an outdoor fair (think small town, county fair). As I was walking past some food vendors, some of the charred leave's from grilled corn flew my direction. Before I could even brush off the pieces, they burned 3 small holes in my dress. Immediately. And so fast the dress actually melted onto my leg. These same pieces also landed on my boyfriends cotton shirt, which he brushed off only after I told him, and they never left a mark. This dress, in my opinion, is highly flammable. That comes as a surprise from an outdoor clothing maker. I wish I knew if there was anything the seller could do, but I am not sure how to contact. I really wanted to wear this dress and get more use out of it since I was very happy with it. Also, at $40 this was not a cheap dress to only wear 2 times. Like I said, I was happy with the dress, before knowing its vulnerabilities. Please be HIGHLY ADVISED if you wear this dress, be aware of your elements, and even the mildest of heat burned right through. ... show more

The weight of the material is just perfect for really hot weather or moderate. The fit is not too tight and not too loose. Perfect length and you’d feel comfortable wearing it wherever you go but still feel stylish.

This dress does keep you cool but it's super thin and reveals your panty line and any flaws or imperfections on your abdomen, hips and thighs. I wish it were lined. It's too think to wear out without shapewear, which defeats the purpose. I use mine as a nightgown.
