They fit true to old shoe sizing (seems like the last 20 years, American shoe makers sizes are a half size too big, or at least a half size bigger than they used to be. My usual shoe size for most Cole Haan shoes is 9.5 and thought this shoe would be no different. But it turned out a little longer (I can squeeze a finger between my ankle and the back part of the shoe, if that makes sense) Thicker socks would help, but I'd normally prefer thin, low cut socks for a loafer like this. The width though is spot-on (9.5W) - and needed no break-in at all. Since I live overseas, too much hassle to send it back. The challenge now is to get the correct socks. ... show more
