Attractive and comfortable. Uppers are described as Nubuck leather with a soft "velvety" finish (but not suede). I was concerned about stains or scuffing-- I'm pretty hard on shoes. I wanted to polish them but was nervous about discoloration. I tried a bit on the tongue in a hidden spot and seemed to look okay, so I applied gray polishing cream and buffed them out. They came out slightly darker and the "velvety" surface became more like smooth leather. This was my goal and I'm hoping it makes them more robust for daily use around the house and walks.
