I use this without a hat- to keep critters off while sleeping. Would not recommend sleeping in it for anyone under 15. Just due to the possible chocking hazard. If you have bugs or critters that you want to keep out of your ears, nose, mouth at night - I recommend this.

Works great for mosquitoes and larger flying midges, but the small gnats keep getting through and attacking my eyes! I don't want to use greasy, smelly DEET an my face, but I guess I need it, or a thick mesh - lower visibility and hotter! Only head nets with tighter weave or mesh work well...not this. ... show more

These are small: narrow and short. They'd fit directly over your head but they won't fit over a hat with a brim. The material is also stiff and feels scratchy against your face.

My kids hate bugs, I don't mind them as long as they are not biting my face. I do not want to put insecticide on my face so in bad bug situations this is a much better option. The Good: Works as intended! As noted in the Amazon feedback review from Coghlan's, the current model (got mine in 2016) was improved to be longer and fits over all standard hat types. The Bad: Does not work with t-shirts or tanktops or any low neckline shirt. No product made for only the head will do that, look at the shirt or full body model for that kind of protection. The Ugly: Yes this thing is ugly, look at the product picture and imagine how you would look in a head net.... And yes like the other people mentioned, their is a slight green tint due to the very small no-see-ums hole size requirement. In summary all things considered I highly recommend a head net: This is not a beach wear item, but if you are camping or canoeing in the deep woods and get a swarm of flying insects liking your scent, you can protect your face until you get to better cover (like a closed tent). Additionally if you care more about protecting your your face from chemicals than protecting your vanity, then this product is for you. ... show more

This kept small bugs off my face. Occasionally a gnat or mosquito would land on the outside and crawl around but wasn't able to get through. Exactly what I was looking for! Is also comfy and not constricting at all.
