Great just what I needed

I have mixed feelings about this pair of shoes. First, they look great and are comfortable. That alone is a good enough reason to purchase them. But for this price I want the entire shoe to be real 100% leather. The interior and parts of the exterior are a PU leather of some kind. Man made leather has gotten very realistic looking over the years and has many good properties, but I still think real leather feels better once broken in. The back of manmade leather has a plastic feel and you can just tell, its fake. They look great though. Also these are technically penny loafers where you can slip a coin into the slot but in this case the slot is not attached to the uppers on the top and bottom and the coin will simply fall out in seconds. So that trim piece is just decoration, and it is made from PU leather. If the entire shoe was real leather and the coin holder was operable, I would give this 5 stars. But those are my two biggest gripes. That said, they look like expensive driving shoes. The outer sole is excellent, and a form of firm rubber of some kind and provides good traction and is comfortable to stand on. The inner sole has a nice cushion which really makes them comfortable. I like the fact that the rubber sole section is wrapped up on the back of the heel making them a true driving shoe. Positives: • Great looking name brand driving shoe • Soft feel • Classic • Comfortable • Great outer sole • Comfortable inner sole Negatives: • Man made leather interiors. • Penny slot is decorative and not stitched to shoe upper and man-made leather Overall, I love the look and comfort of this shoe and will wear it often. It is not as nice as some of the 100% real animal leather shoes in the same price range, but I still like them quite a bit. If the price was adjusted down just a bit for man-made leather these would be a great value. As they stand, they are average value but are a top name brand. Lastly, with the PU leather looking so real now many people actually prefer it over animal hide. It does have some advantages. I am an older guy and like the feel of hide on my bare foot. (Probably because that was all there was when I grew up.) 4 stars

OK, first off - this is branded Coach, so the expectations are going to be slightly higher than, say Timberland, Clarks since Coach is in the 'branded' territory - though not up there with Bally, Ferangamo, or the boutique brands that usually sport the full name of its designer. Coach is, in the 'affordable luxury' segment, and that carries with it some expectations - being that it must still maintain standards of near perfection in manufacturing, decent style - but there's no expectations on it being not made and mass produced in some overseas low-cost factory. That being said - this pair meets those expectactions (and lack of). The shoe itself is very comfortable, the style is conservatively classic that shouldn't go out of fashion quickly. The materials used are pretty modern - the outer sole that meets the floor is made of pretty thick rubbery material that provides good cushioing. I am not sure, how far the layers go, but it seems to be made in Italy. Not that at this price point and segment it should matter too much - but I guess it does. I mean you would be OK for a Nike or Timberland to be fully made in China or Vietnam, but for a 'luxury' brand, you'd probably have some expectation that it has components made/sourced from less cheap labor countries. So there you go - at least 1 layer is Italian... Does that result in any better performance? Not sure - I don't really mind. The entire upper section though, is sourced, and probably made in India - there's the 'affordable' side of the equation. I guess the important thing then is if the entire package still counts as an above average quality. For that to be honest is very hard to tell since I am no shoe construction expert. Just visually inspecting, the transition between material types and sections seem to be sewn in, with good quality. But as we nowadays can see in YouTube deconstruction videos, it could be deceiving. It could be glued on, with faux sew. (See Doc Martens from Rose Anvil). There's just no way to be sure until you cut the entire shoe open. And sorry - not doing that for an Amazon review .... However as a package of style, appearance, comfort - I have to say I am prett satisfied with these pair. It fits per sizing. And walking, is pretty comfortable. So I have no complaints. Ultimately, its a question of your perception and value for money. If you're a Coach fan, or at least recognize the brand and its references, then you'll be happy with these. If you're a casual unbiased to brand guy ... but just want a good pair of real leather shoes that are comfortable, then you definitely wouldn't shell out $800+ for a Bally, but you want something a bit nicer than your mall shoes, then you could definitely give this a try.

These are the perfect every day wear type of shoe. They can easily be dressed up or down. They are very comfortable. They run a little big which is typical for this style of shoe so I sized down and I am glad I did.

These are lovely shoes. The leather is genuine, the insoles are a well made leather lining that are very comfortable, and the black color is classic. They are a premier dress shoe/driver. The craftsmanship is top notch as can be seen from the bottom rubber outsole. My largest concerns for this shoe is 1) the shoe ran large, and 2) the price seems to be a tad high. I did receive these as part of the vine program, but I myself would not purchase these shoes for $225 normally. If you do not care about price though the only downside for me was that the shoe ran large.
