We received one of these in a subscription box. My son absolutely loved it. So much so, we decided to get one for my younger son. He as well loves it. This one is different than the other one we received. The first one had green and blue lights- they could fade between the colors or they could be green or blue. We never used the fade feature- so I wasn't terribly disappointed when I realized this one did not have that option. It does however have an additional color of red lights. I read a study where it claimed dimmed red lights were the most relaxing/sleep inducing. I don't know, but I'll take any relaxing/sleep inducing strategy I can take when it comes to my youngest son. These lights are definitely worth the extra money. We have an array of night lights and none of them were loved quite like these ones. I don't know why, I don't try to understand the mind of my toddlers. But if you're torn between which night light to get for your little one, I say you can't go wrong with this one! ... show more

    • A Great Nightlight With Two (2) On/Off Switches!

We've had two of these night lights, and our grandchildren love them. I ruined the first when it didn't turn on after being in a drawer for a couple of months, and changing the batteries didn't make any difference. I checked the wiring, and battery contacts, and was pretty sure the LED wasn't even into Year 1 of its 100 Year Life, so it got tossed. When the replacement arrived I installed the new batteries..., and it didn't work. So, I tried another set of batteries, and they didn't work either. It was at this point my wife asked if I had pushed the "On" button located on the back of the octopus. I hadn't, of course, thinking the on/off switch was the one on the bottom of the toy. Yes, it worked after I pushed the button, and I immediately realized the other one would probably have worked, too. So, there are two on/off switches. The one on the bottom, and another on the back. We have only had it for a day but my 19-month old daughter's reaction to it was priceless. Here I thought I was buying a light that would sit on her dresser and create soothing stars for her to look at as she fell asleep in her new "big-girl room." What I really bought her was her new best friend. She played with it all night, with us negotiating that "Abba" (apparently the name of our new friend) could sit on the table as she ate dinner. As bed time approached she insisted on sleeping with her new nightlight as she was tucked into her new big-girl bed. I was afraid she would just want to play but she curled up with it and was asleep right away. Maybe my review will change over time, but for the price, her reaction alone was totally worth it!
