    • It felt comfortable and wide enough, but it “bows” in the middle
I need a wide or double wide and have serious foot issues. These would’ve been okay, but there were a few things that didn’t do it for me, two of which to no fault of its own, were the heel height (needed it to be a bit higher, but could’ve ade do), and the color (it’s really not a pretty “brown”), reminiscent of old style brown shoes. I could’ve gotten past that, seeing the fit was okay, but the elastic gores at the midfoot bow out as soon as your foot is in. Felt like the arch would go down and made that happen, though theres some arch support in them, so not sure why the ugly fit? Which means when you’d walk it’d definitely bow outward each time. Aside from it not being a flattering fit, I wondered if it’d get caught in the hem of my pants? I’d definitely not wear these with a skirt. I’m 56, these felt like great grandma shoes. Not understanding why comfortable shoes have to be ugly or only come in plain black, blue, brown or ugly colors? I expected more from Clarks. ... show more

I love these shoes! They are not only a nice looking shoe but they are comfortable with plenty of toe room and a comfortable insole. They are sturdy as well, and I believe that they will last quite a while. They look good whether wearing jeans or as a good work shoe. They fit my feet superbly and I feel comfortable in these shoes after wearing them all day. The heel is the perfect size and I am happy to have found them on Amazon while on sale. Wow! I was surprised the other ladies all exclaimed how wonderful these shoes are and they are right when I first slipped them on today the right one seemed a little tight and the left one seem perfect but then I took it off. Stretched it a bit with my fist and then slipped it back on, and it was perfect. These will be perfect for the Renaissance fair.     • I really like Clark’s shoes
I really like Clark’s shoes, and have a basic sense as to how they will fit. Lately though, I feel that their sizing seems somewhat unpredictable. I find they run on the large side, so even though for other brands I look for 8.5 wide, (sometimes 8wide), I have found that with Clark’s I probably need 8 medium, particularly since leather tends to loosen with wear. However, since these shoes were patent leather, I thought that the lack of give in the material would lead to a tight shoe that would never become more comfortable. So when I ordered them, I ordered 8 wide. From the start they have been too big, not just by my toes joints, but I feel like my feet are swimming in the shoe, and that is with socks! I don’t understand because I have a wide foot; it is as if these are extra wide, and the heel is loose as well, and I do not have narrow heels. I need to insert some heel pads so the shoes do not feel,as though they are going to fall off when I walk. When I ordered these I also order a different pair of Clark’s, black leather 8 medium, which were a bit snug, but are starting to loosen a bit and are quite comfortable. They are both pairs of flat shoes, for comfort at work, I can’t get over the disparity in sizing between the medium and wide. I know a true comparison would be between medium and wide of the same shoe, but one should expect sizing consistency within a line of shoes. Otherwise, I like the shoes, a little shine to dress them up. I had hoped to wear them with skirts as well as pants, but they would not stay on with nylons instead of socks, so pants only! ... show more

Color black matches clothing well. It was a great value for the price. Lasted many months of almost daily use on my feet all day as a teacher. Fit is similar to most Clark’s and fit well. I do not have foot pain with Clark’s until they are ready to be replaced. The leather on the toes gets dull after a while, but then it is time to get out the shoe polish. ... show more
