I have had various types of Clark's and it's always kind of a crap shoot - often the shoe fits very tightly over the in-step. In this case, I just got them and put them on, and they are *just* fitting over the instep - if this shoe had a back then I would not be comfortable. Because the instep is tight, my heel *just* fits onto the back of the shoe. I could have ordered the next half size up but that would be too loose. I'm going to be keeping them because I expect the upper to stretch out over time, but if this was going to be an every day shoe I'd think very hard about switching them out for the next half size up, or returning. Also, this was my fault, but I accidentally put my foot on a hot radiator (I sometimes rest my foot on it as I'm at a standing desk), and the sole started melting! This was *after* I had decided to keep them btw. But, be aware that the sole on this shoe has a low temperature threshold! ... show more
