Clarks have always been a good fit for me. My foot runs wide and I have a high arch and instep. This is a nice quality soft leather shoe. They look really nice with any pair of pants. I like the insole which I found to be comfortable. This is the first time I have ordered a pair of shoes on line! I always have to try on both pair since my left foot is larger than my right. So I took a chance and since Clarks usually fit well I ordered this pair. They fit out of the box and I didn't have break them in. I was in the shoes for 14 hrs the first time I wore them. The dogs were definitely tired by the end of the day and wanted out but that was to be expected after all that time. So for me they are a great shoe and if your feet are like mine I highly recommend them! Cheers

This shoe seems to be good quality and and nice looking. It was too narrow for my feet and a wide wasn't available so I can't say how they wear in the long term.

Clarks Men's Escalade Step: $54.47 for a Men’s 10.5 pair at the time of review Clarks have been around for a long time. A lot longer than I have. I remember my dad buying pairs of Clarks when I was a kid. Thankfully, like all good long term brands, Clarks has adapter to modern styling so these ain’t your daddy’s Clarks. When I needed a new pair of dress shoes for a desk job with a dress code, the first name I thought of was Clarks. *What I liked*: The styling on these is great. It has a kind of classic look with the squared toe but modern lines and contours to fit my feet better. They are comfortable. This was a major prerequisite of any pair of dress shoes that I was going to have to wear five days a week. I was taking two walks a day to break up the day of sitting at a desk and these did just fine for my little 15 minute 1-ish mile diversion. The price is right. At just over $50 bucks, these shoes are not gonna break the bank. *What I didn't like*: The only knock I have on them is that they seemed to scuff somewhat easily. This is mitigated by a nice shoe care/shine kit. For $10 bucks you can keep them looking like new. I just spent 5 minutes every Sunday evening buffing and polishing them. Tip top shape. *The Bottom Line:* Like much of the world, my regular days in an office ended with the onset of the COVID pandemic as I transitioned to work from home. But I still have my Clarks. These days they only get taken out for special occasions, but they still look just as good. As an added bonus, I don’t have to polish them nearly as often. These shoes earn all five stars out of five. I’d definitely buy these over again.

To start with, I work in the city and commute to work daily. According to the fitness logger app in my phone, I do an average of 10,000 steps daily - though I know some might not consider this as a lot of walking but to me, it certainly is. I can't imagine doing that in a leather-soled dress shoes. Then imagine when it rains. Hence, I am in the market for shoes that looks dressy enough to pair with my business suit yet not lacking in support and comfort. I have had good experience with Clarks, and this time, it doesn't disappoint still. Admittedly these shoes have yet to clock major mileage, but from prior experience of owning Clarks everything is looking good so far. Regarding the fit - this is the most common problem I see in reviews pertaining to men's footwear by this brand. Most say that they're too big, and most recommend going down 1/2 or one full size. I must say that leather shoes fit differently from athletic shoes. For example, I wear size US13 D for my Under Armour footlball cleats, my Adidas running shoes, and my Salomon hiking boots. However, I wear US12 D for my oxford dress shoes, my Timbs classic yellow boots, another pair of black Clarks slip-on loafers,and a pair of Clarks leather boots (ordered together with this pair). YMMV. but yes, I technically sized down. These shoes fit snug out of the box, and that is how it should be - let the shoes mould around your feet for a custom fit. Do this by wearing them, and walk in them. Though this pair is snug, I have yet to feel any hot spots, nor any blisters develop. My feet wasn't raw, and they were not aching or sore after wearing them daily. I notice that they fit significantly better day by day. If you place shoe trees in them, they'll break in even more beautifully. Regarding the actual comfort of wearing them, Clarks certainly know what they're doing. Support is great, traction is excellent, and they're really comfortable. I love them so much that I even wear them during weekend jaunts and when I fly - no laces for me to bother with. These are made in India, and I couldn't fault the construction or the fit & finish of the shoes. Quality is excellent for the price. Pairs great with gray or medium blue suits, and look amazing with a pair of dark wash jeans or even gray jeans. Highly advise to bestow some TLC with some shining and waterproofing when you get them right out of the box. If you're under the fence, just get them. Thanks for reading, and I hope my review is useful. * * * * * UPDATE * * * * * * Today I have worn this shoe for 13 months, and I am impressed with how it looks. It has broken down nicely and is very comfortable. Soles still have plenty of traction, and the uppers developed a nice patina. I wore this 5 days a week, and occasionally during the weekends with nice pair of dark wash jeans. Love it.
