It glides really well. That is by far it's best feature. The materials seem good as well, but unfortunately this thing moves around a bit. I needed to add some old rubber strips to it to keep it in place. For the cost, this thing should address that issue. It is a sturdy product overall, but know that it isn't plug and play for an aluminum boat.

I attach this product to my rowboat seats and clamp them as tight as I could possibly get them about an hour in a fishing, they came loose and ended up capsizing the boat. I feel there should be rubber wrapped around the clamping mechanism so it doesn’t slip. The clamps slip slipped and ultimately capsized the boat…Very unhappy. I lost over $350 worth of orvis Rod and Rheel combination in addition to everything else except for the battery thank God the oars floated. You need to re engineer the clamps and put some type of a nonslip coating on the clamping portion to keep the seats in place so they do not slide. Metal on metal will always do that. No chance to recover the rod and reel as we were in 50 feet of water, So thanks for nothing engineers!!!

I installed this in the rear of my 1980s Blue Fin aluminum semi-V boat, and it fit perfectly. Once tightened down, it holds solid and doesn’t slip at all. The swivel function is incredibly smooth thanks to the 58 internal ball bearings—it’s a massive improvement over my old mounts that didn’t have bearings and were stiff to turn. The build quality is very good. The frame is sturdy, and the black powder-coated finish looks nice and should hold up well against corrosion. The clamp-on design is adjustable to fit bench seats ranging from 7½ inches up to 18 inches wide, making it easy to get a perfect fit. The slotted holes lined up perfectly with my seat’s bracket (5” to 6” spacing). To protect the aluminum bench seat, I cut a small piece of foam rubber and stuck it to the bottom of the seat mount before clamping it down. This gives a little cushioning and prevents any scratching where the bracket rests against the aluminum. One tip: make sure to tighten the wing nuts tight to keep everything secure, especially if you’re rotating the seat often. I used one of those Gator Grip universal sockets (with the spring-loaded pins) to really torque it down. Otherwise, you’ll destroy your fingers trying to get it tight enough. Overall, this is a great upgrade for older boats and well worth the $30. It looks great, functions even better, spins smoothly, and feels like it’s built to last. It even raised the seat up a few more inches compared to the old mount, making it way more comfortable with better visibility while fishing. Definitely recommended if you’re looking to upgrade your setup. Tight lines! 🎣🛥️

Just what I was looking for. This is a great seat upgrade for fishing. It's low rise for balance and you can rotate to better targeting on boat/kayak, great functionality. It's nicely priced and you can adjust to fit almost anywhere. It's height allows for a combination of comfort and balance. It's so very easy to install, just screw it on the seat and go. I recommend using silicon spray to protect it from rust and more so if you go to salt water. Happy customer here.
